Just consult Kelly's BB. That will ball park it for you.
You can also just go on MBUSA and do a search under preowned. Better be sitting down when you see the numbers.
IT's easy. This is not rocket science.

Rocket science? I was asking what a fair price was, not the value of kbb.com as that is not what everyone goes by. I was looking for member opinions on what the value of their cars are and were when purchased.

Don't be so quick to insult, any moron can find a blue book value but thats not what forums are for.

I think you can find a nice 05 CLK 55 below 10k miles for between 50K and 55K. FYI.. I got my 05 with 7k miles (the car came with NAV, 6 CD, so on and so forth) for $50,000.

How can a 05' CLK55 drop so much in value in 1 year??? That is at least $25K in less than a year. Am I missing something here?

I guess ppl think that 75k is too much for a 360hp car (to me this car is worth every penny). Not long ago, there was an 05 CLK 55 with about 2k miles on ebay that was being sold for 57k.

Hey Skytop,

Out of the top 6-9 high end brand name cars, Ferarri, Porche, MB, BMW, Maserati, Lotus, Astin M, etc and not going to extreme in price in these models where would you rank these cars. The reason I ask is would you own a Ferarri before a Porche before a MB.

My brother in-law racers the Honda NSX and has been informed they are bringing out a new model with a V8, it looks pretty good compared to the old one, would you consider something like that.

So, if you had a choice to buy one of these cars in that price range, which one?

Me, I am tempted by the Ferrari, I think that might be my next buy. The Lambo, a mate of mine just bought, I didn't add that in beacuse you cannot drive them on the open roads, just not practical, you have to have the lift up doors otherwise the doors hit the kerb when you get out. Plus it attracts cops like you would'nt believe, this week he has just lost another 3 points from his license, 89 in a 60 zone. Anyway they are getting out of the price range.

It is true the prices of these cars has fallen significantly in recent years. As other mfg's started to exceed the 300HP mark (including doge, checy, etc) on a regular basis with cars under $40K, the intrinsic value of a AMB Merc with only 350HP has dimenished significantly. That's probably one of the reasons that thsy are coming out with the new CLK63 next year. This newer car has also contributed to the exponential decline in value for the '05 CLK55. In short, they can be had for a relatively cheap figure. A number of forum guys have bought these in the low fifty's. Do a search on not only this forum but others as well to find this information. If your hunting for a specific dealer reference from this forum, that probably won't help you any as these cars are still not the most common. One guy may have paid $50K in AZ while another guy paid $62K from the same source. Dealers are in business to get every dime they can from you. Your job is to search until you find a dealer (or individual) willing to work with you. One note of caution.... Don't forget about all the flooded out cars that will be coming back into the market in Lousiana and Texas. Damage done by the Hurricane's can sometimes be temporarily "masked" by a dealer. Make CERTAIN you get EVERY scrap of service work and registration information on any car you consider buying otherwise you could be stuck with one of those. Just remember that if it seems too good to be true.... It probably is. By that I mean a 05 CLK55 with 2,350 miles in New York selling for $49,000. It jsut is NOT going to happen with a legit car. But a 05 CLK55 with 20K miles might go for $52,000 though. SO, if your stuck on the low mileage (under 10K), you may not be able to get one under $55K

No offense to the W209 55ers, but IMO, skip the CLK55 and get a used E55 or 996TT

I just don't understand how these prices are correct? NADA Trade-IN value for my 2003 CLK55 was listed at $46K. Thats dealer trade-in......not retail. I think KBB trade-in value was at $43K. How can the 2005's be so close in price? Just doesn't make sense.

Hi All,

The opinion on the CLK55 is that MB USA & Canada still has new stock it cannot sell, sales have stopped and there is not enough markup in the car. Plus, the convertible CLK55 out sells the CLK55 coupe and pulls an extra $10k US, better margin.

Check MBUSA website and you will see no CLK55 Coupe listed only the convertible CLK55. I mean this must put a lot of doubt in a purchasers mind if buying CLK55 Coupe and it must have flow on effect into the price of the used car market of the CLK55 Coupe.

If they where bringing out the CLK63 AMG out shortly I think there would be a lot more talk about it. I think you may not even see this engine in the current w209, rummors are about the current body cannot handle it, that MB will put it into the other models first as they have been already updated and wait until the new CLK comes out in 2007. Either way it would have to be late 2006, everytime I see a new model at a motor show its always 2 years before its on the show room floor.

A lot of people are saying that MB are not going to waste the new motor on a old design which is just about finished its current run.

In Australia I have friends that have ordered a new CLK55 AMG coupe's for next year from the Brisbane dealship and its owned by MB themslves, not a mention of a CLK63 but they are talking about the other models coming with the 63 engine.

Anyone got any thoughts on this?

very good value indeed , especially the CLK look will last for another 3 years.
for this amount, you won't even get A4 2 litre. at our home

John

may be it is due to its replacement by the facelift ( 3 slates grill ) which has direct control feature incorporated.

The only 63 engines on the pipline are new comers R63 and ML63.
My good guess is MB will give the 63 priority to models in the more competative market place or the top models. That is,
A facelift E63 vs M5 ,, then both have 500+ hp
SL55 AMG will receive a facelift and comes SL63;
No new as whether there will be some "less powerful" 6.3 litre engines for the lower models such as SLK, C, CLK are not known. But it is not unreasonable to assume there are high possibilities, especially now we are seeing the comings of competitors growing engine power on some of the not even top racing models such as BMW 335i will get 350hp with biturbos, Lexus IS350 gets 300hp. The new S-class now gets 388hp from its used to be 306hp.
The power of E90 M3 coupe will be ~410hp as I heard.
