Broken trunk lid break light

This weekend I realized that strip of red light is broken somehow. I never backed into anything or nothing it the car as far as I know. There is no other damage other than that little piece of plastic being broken. Also it seems like it is broken as if something pushed it out (instead of in if something actually hit it). I am thinking is it possible water got trapped and froze?

What do you guys think? and how much will this cost me to fix any ideas. Thanks guys.

got it replaced under warranty actually new one (clear red plastic with leds inside) is nicer than what I had originally had.
