Hey:

Just bought CLK55 - 2005 -w/100 miles on it - being shipped to me from CA. Looking for some basic information on modding the car. What are the typical mods for this car - with the exception of the S/C or NOS.

As soon as car arrives windows will be tinted and remote radar installed.

I am most interested in lowering it a bit at this time. Also curious about stereo mods too. i.e. hooking up MP3 and additional sub.

Any help would be great. Can't wait for car to arrive...

WELCOME to MBWorld

Hey there, welcome to this forum. It's a great forum and is probably the best MB one out there, as most of the other fourms are pretty inactive. As far as your audio questions, check out the Audio/Electronics Forum (http://forums.mbworld.org/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38). And as far as lowering your car, I'm not too sure but you can search the forum using the Search/Advanced Search at the top and see what you can find. Anyway, good luck with your new car... it's great to have another CLK55er on here!

BTW, usually you'll get a quicker response but the weekends are a little quiet on here...

Later,
Rafi Jooma

Willkommen! Typical mod? Depends on what you're trying to achieve. Are you going for looks or performance? For looks prolly lower the car. Performance get headers and ecu. Not cheap though so make sure you have plenty saved in your 401k.

JamE55 speaks the truth. Anything other than cosmetic mods is going to cost a few $$$.

What's nice on the W209s is you can go from mild to wild on power mods as well as cosmetic mods.

Lambo doors
Kleemann suspension and other high performance mods
Coilovers
Wheels/tires
You name it.....it can be done....for a price!

No kidding....just trying to get someone to install Euro Spec AMG springs was like pulling teeth.
Stuff is just too expensive to do on this car!

The car is 2005 CLK55 cabrio - silver with grey/nav/sat radio/chrome MB wheels - car has 100 miles on it...

Yeah I hear you about price - my fiance has C32 - which I have looked for some part for and it is the same crazy money.

Right now- I am looking remote radar, maybe a sub, and a set of springs.

I think the cheapest way to go on the springs is to buy some Euro spec springs from Gert.
Check out this thread:

Hi,
I bought the Brabus Lowering Spring Set for my CLK55 AMG Cab, dropped the front down 12mm & the rear 25mm, the car runs on 19" wheel, handles great. They cost aroung $600 Australian so they would be only around $350 US dollars.
