That totally depends on whether you want a 4 door sedan or a 2 door coupe.

Same engine and power output in both cars, but the C55 is lighter. The C55 got the benefits of the "Direct Control" upgrades which came with the 2005 facelift for the C-class range, which include quicker steering ratio, a wider front track, and revised suspension and ESP programming. Compared to the C32 it replaced, the C55 handles signficantly better and can post lap times almost identical to the benchmark BMW M3 (which is a big improvement over the C32).

I don't think the CLK ever got the "Direrct Control" upgrades, so my guess is that the 2004 CLK55 has suspension tuning which is more in keeping with the C32.

IMO, CLK is a much hotter car. They should be almost identical in performance (maybe the C has a slight advantage), but the sleekness and unique style of the CLK makes it a real head turner.

IF YOU ASK ME YOU KNOW I'LL SAY C55. but a lot of people consider the CLK on a much higher level. despite its price in my opinion i find i enjoy a C-class more for its price-options.

but i would say theyre just about the same car, like mentioned before ones a sedan - while the others a coupe (a coupe based on that same sedan if im not mistaken) so ask yourself... is 4 doors and "rear passengers" important, or having a slighty smaller "coupe" version with only two-doors and less rear room for your passengers more important

Dont forget the entire hood of a C55 IS A CLK55... so if you buy a C55 it would be like having both in a way ENJOY - and either way YOURE TALKING ABOUT TWO AMG's ... so stop crying and post pics NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess the passenger space isn't an issue or you wouldn't ask. The performance between them is a wash, so for looks and uniqueness I'd go with the CLK55. All MB coupes look great and the CLK is no exception. The C55 looks good too but there are a ton of base C class sedans running around. Also you'll will never come across a woman who doesn't love the CLK, which can't be said for the C. And at the end of the day it’s a coupe so all it will ever be is your car, not the car you and your buddies pile into to take to the beach.

very well said... as much as i think the CLK is too little for too much $$$ that was very well said and i cant argue b/c LADIES do tend to think "CLKs" are hotter. BUT remember, no matter what car you have if you know how to pimp em' you can drive a POS (piece of shizzz) and pick up more LADIES then any body benz. IT ALSO HAS A LOT TO DO WITH THE GUY BEHIND THE WHEEL

depends on the options. CLK 55 has a few options that C 55 dont have. Keyless go, trunk closer, ventilated seats, parktronic. and 2004 was the last year for coupes, so they are rare. w204 c class is coming soon so c55 values will tank badly.

i definitely would go with clk55

...........if your are considering the CLK55, then look into an 03 CL55 with V8K engine. Same price range these days.
