High miles CLK55's?

I am looking at an '02 CLK55 with 79,000 miles on it. The car is being sold by an MB dealer. They are getting the services up to date (B service) and a few other odds and ends. Anybody have any experience with higher milage 55's? I wanted one with lower milage, but the price and color (White/charcoal) are swaying me in this direction.

Thanks in advance,

Supersparker

my 03 has 67k on it, still runs like a dream...idthink 12k more on a years earlier model would make a big diff. as long as the maintenance was steady etc...i say go for it...

I second the motor mount replacement.....under the CPO program the dealer replaced mine @ 54k on the clock (on an m113 C43). Very likely that this may need to be done. Other than that, I wouldn't really consider 75-80k miles to be "high mileage", and I wouldn't expect any major issues

i get this squeakin noise that sounds like it comes from some aspect of the suspension...could that be the suspension bushings?...

The 208s look great in white. I wanted a C32/C55 but I saw this one (white clk55) and I had to have it.

I got a lower mileage car, which is nice but I didn't really care. I think as long as it's Starmarked you should be fine.

My mechanic (independent) went over the car and said it's in excellent shape. The following have had to be replaced:

MAF, Window Regulator, Blower Motor, Brake Switch and various squeaks (fixed most of them myself).

Of course, everything (except for fluid changes) was covered by the warranty/ dealer's sales dept. good will.

ah yes....forgot about the MAF....that was replaced on my 113 as well. Also, it may seem trivial but make sure that they put some new rubber on the wheels....

I currently have 71xxx miles and will be getting the B service soon. I drive my car every day and all I can say is I miss it when I don't dirve it. I do expect to replace the motor mounts soon as I have noticed some vibration at idle. But If you love it and can afford to keep it up as well as if the dealer will give you a respectable bill of health/warrenty why not?!! Do you trust the dealer?

If the car is well cared for, you shouldn't have any major issues.

Biggest Threat

Check the Tranny (see thread on tranny repairs). This will probably be your biggest threat. Numerous rebuilt tranny's between 90 to 100k miles

Supersparker,
I just bought my '02 with 54k on the odometer and it is a dream. I do have the minor vibration others seem to experience around the 50-70k mile marker but that is a simple thing to fix in the comfort of my garage.

Is the car your looking at a CPO? What kind of warranty are you going to have? The electronics is probably something you want to ensure is 100%.

The 208 is a solid car and although I have had mine less than a year I am a HUGE FAN!
