Update: 6.3L engine software NOW AVAILABLE. Our first test vehicle posted gains of 30HP and the software is still under development for improved torque numbers.

We are more than happy to extend this software special for an introductory price of $1169 ($1299 retail) and we are also offering a FREE DYNO to all Southern California local customers.

Well I just got back from Speed Innovation and I am EXTREMELY impressed to say the least. We did dyno runs BEFORE and AFTER the install. I should mention that my car is a 2001 325i Steptronic with a GruppeM intake which yielded ~5HP at the crank.

On to the more important information. This was dyno'd using a Dynapak dyno system, I have provided pictures as well as video links to show you how it was setup. Multiple runs were done for baseline and after and only after we received consistent gains did we save the info as pictured below.

My car was tuned with the standard 325 software that will go into all M54 325's. Software is also available for ALL E46's, M54 and M56 engines. That's right, they have software with similar gains for you M56 folk. In any case, the dynos speak for themselves. Realize this is WHEEL HP and estimated crank is about a 15HP gain and over 20TQ gain.

My impressions of the car after...well the car pulls MUCH more in the lower end where it needed it. In every gear, the car is much stronger throughout the rev band. As you can see, the software is not peaky at all, it maintain's the linearity of the Inline 6 that BMW is so famous for. Please feel free to take a look and let us know what you think!

Pictures of the dyno as well as the dyno itself are below, videos are to follow!

Enjoy!

What does it do for a 55K engine?

17-24 Horsepower and 19-29 Torque!

The lower numbers are if you run on 91, the higher numbers are if you run on 93.

The price is $599, but I will give you the full 10% off if you dyno your car and send us the dynos with a review!

Thanks
JL

Do the brains need to be shipped of for programming? What's the process?

If you are not in Southern California, we will have you remove your ECU (takes about 5 minutes) and ship it out to us via whichever shipping method you prefer. The day we receive the ECU, we will tune it and ship it back out via FedEx overnight. Total turn around time is max 2-3 days, provided you ship the ECU out via overnight.

So what's the price, $1,169 or $599?

Because I can't see paying $60+ per HP, with max HP being about 20. Any dyno graphs on a NA 55 motor?

Well, if the pricing ever changes to something more realistic shoot me an email! Not sure how these tuning companies can charge so much for software that delivers so little. On my Audi TT I have a GIAC chip good for 25 hp and 35 tq for around $400… and those cars are harder to write the software for.

Oh wait… is it because I have a star on my hood?

Well... One engine is a turbo FI and the onther is a NA. So, FI engine would be more difficult to write software for because you are dealing with:

1. Boost pressure
2. Boost controlloers
3. Relieve and Boost Valves
4. Temperature before and after IC
5. Amount of air volume turbo is pushing into the engine
6. etc...

This is all very simplified of course and I'm no expert, but that takes more programing... and if those things aren't done right a turbo or an engine can go. Not really the same for NA motors.

You are welcome to talk to our tuner about the specific coding required for your model but believe me, the coding is no less simplified because your engine is NA. In fact, given your car is an AMG model with that much more put into power output, it makes it harder to extract more from such highly tuned machinery.

Hey guys,
I just uploaded a PDF file with some information about SpeedInnovation ECU tuning... How it works, what the gains are about, what the company is about... etc.

It also shows all MBZ models they tune and has the gains on there!

Enjoy!

Besides HP and TQ- What Else Does It Do?

I may have missed this somewhere but I believe I asked before if your software removes the speed limitation of 155? Also, does your software modify the speed of shifts? Does it increase the Redline RPM? Can you program a ESP kill switch? This would be useful to know. Thanks.

Yes it does remove the speed limiter, yes it does increase RPM, and it will change the way your car shifts.

ESP Kill Switch? Never heard of it!

I'm going to talk it over with SpeedInnovations tomorrow and see what we can do for you CLK55 guys. If I can get 5-10 ECU's we can probably do some great discounts!

It makes 18-22HP and 20-24TQ... Which is why retail is $1299. I'll see what I can do about that.

Just passing along a cool video and dyno of the latest Speed Innovation creation, a Ferrari 355.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r27J8paCzE

This was performed on a DYNOJET system and the top run file is stock. Several run files appear as Speed Innovation tuned, dyno'd, tuned some more, dyno'd etc...until reaching the final run file.

Enjoy!
