2002 CLK Trunk Opener

I just purchased a 2002 CLK 55. Question on the trunk opener. If you press and hold the trunk release button on the remote for several seconds, it opens the trunk. Is this feature suppose to open the trunk all the way (ie lift the trunk up) or does it just open the trunk and you have to lift it up manually.
thanks

I think it might depend on if its a coupe or convertible. Where I work we have had numerous CLK's in and the coupes always opened fully and the convertibles would only pop, leaving it up to you to open it fully.

regardless of coupe or cab, it pops up all the way. I remember one time i was laying a vinyl on my rear windshield and my friend didnt realize how the trunk opened and went to open it to get something and the lid nailed me in the back of the head, lol. **** hurt.

The coupe trunks go all the way up and cabs only lift slightly and would have to been raised the rest by hand.
Mine is a 2002 CLK cab.

Thrill Kill posted a thread a while back about how he discovered that you can adjust the amount of lift provided by the spring that lifts the trunk by just relocating the anchor point at the back end of the spring from the hole that it's currently in on your setup to the hole that's further back. If I remember correctly, there's three holes to choose from. (sounds like past girlfriend.... ) It's as simple as unhooking the spring and re-hooking it into the next hole. He posted pics in his thread. Do a search here or if you don't find it here look on b e n z w o r l d. Good luck.
