Best looking wheels for clk55

Guys, thinking of upgrading my twin spoke alloys on 03 clk55. probably a bit of a subjective thing I know, but would be interested if one particular make comes over as more popular.( 18'' only). The Moven c16 rims look great. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

I'm wondering if I can ask the question a slightly different way: If one were looking for the best wheel, I'd want to balance looks with quality - that is, I want the best ride quality (smooth, quiet, vibration free, stable) that I can get in a good-looking wheel. Preference on a particular style aside, are there particular brands that you can't go wrong with, or ones to particularly avoid? Will an 18" look too small, or will a 19" be too harsh/delicate/expensive? For a CLK 55 AMG (I just bought an 03 on Sunday, myself), where is the sweet spot between looks, quality, and ride?

honestly stay stock if thats what you are looking for.Whenever you go aftermarket you wont agree with some thing! just stay stock and there is no problems if anything go with 18's but when you do this you will notice your car all jacked up now your gonna need lowering springs and then shocks so on and so on .

STAY STOCK

what I really do not like on the stock 18'' twin spokes are the front wheels where the spokes actually protrude beyond the rims - looks really weird compared to the rears which have a nice lip.(plus they are in danger of getting scraped). I realise that they are like that because of the bigger brakes (or so I have been told) but would having same width on front as back affect steering, tracking etc.....By the way BeNzTek your wheels have always been one of my favourites for the clk's -really look good, are the rims wider at the front than originals, the centres do not look as if they protrude and look much better with the wide lip.Looking at my fronts if wider rims were fitted it looks as if the tyres might hit the wheel arch

I went with 19" iFORGED Classic and H&R lowering springs. If you go with bigger wheels, you MUST lower the car, as it will look jacked up with the smaller tire profile. The ride is a bit harsher, but it doesn't bother me at all. I went with 19" because I personally think 18" rims look too close to stock. Remember though, the bigger wheel you go with, the smaller the tire profile will have to be, and the ride will be harsher.

19" Rims & H&R Springs

I just went through the same issue. Ultimately I decided on the 19" rim over the 18" because all new true sports cars have 19" rims. I was worried at first that the larger rims might look to big on the car, since I was used to the 17" rims. However, now that I have them on, I can say that I am very pleased with the 19" look and the difference in ride quality for me is almost nothing. Further, you can get more rubber on the road and a narrower profile tire, which looks great and performs even better.

Granted my ride comfort analysis is based on smooth roads. Broken cement highways like CA may be different but they were horrible with my 17".

I can highly recommend the 19" rim with H&R springs. Good luck.

Moven Wheels, especially on an AMG is actually a Downgrade IMO. Keep em stock, dont put replica anything on an AMG. If your going to change em anyway, be prepared to send some dough, if you want your car to drive the way it does now.

Do you have a picture of what your wheel looks like?

Zoom on, they are the stock clk55 wheels. If you look at the top right of this page there are 5 small photo's with the last one being a F1 racing car. the fourth photo along shows a front end plus a 5 spoke alloy wheel. Those are the wheels on my car.

This isn't your car, is it? I apologize...the picture sucks.

I saw it over at the new Lowes off 90th South and 10th East...

I actually had a bit of a post here asking why a cast replica of a cast Brabus wheel would be a "downgrade", but after spending some time searching I think I answered my own question.
