I have been investigating this with some dilligence for my CLK55. The stock (non-Comand) radio cannot be upgraded to Satellite by itself, and it does not have an aux-in that you can plug into. Wiring an FM modulator into the radio antenna seems to be about the only option without pulling out everything. There are a few options, in order of approximate cost:
1. Wire in an external satellite controller in the cubby under your radio, with the FM antenna lash-up. Sound will be good, parts and install around $400, solution will give you Sirius or XM only, regular radio will continue to work with steering wheel controls. 2. Replace the head unit. There's a new Pioneer unit coming out in April that does Satellite, Bluetooth phone, Ipod, and has an aux-in that will work with my Zune. About $650 with Sirius antenna kit, very good sound (no FM work-around). Maximum features for minimum cost. BUT, you lose your stock look, and the steering wheel controls will only operate the car computer stuff. This is the option that I'm going to go with. 3. Replace the head unit with a 2-DIN navigation set up, adding modules for Satellite and Bluetooth phone. There are some recommended setups for this, cost is highest ($2K - $3K), but you get pretty much everything. You can also install an OEM Comand nav system with satellite, but going completely stock for things like the bluetooth phone etc can get expensive, and I'm not serious (ahahaha) about this option.

option #1 should only be the price of the radio and a few electrical parts to tap for power. If you have a few FM channels free in your area, the FM modulation sound quality is excellent with my Sirius. I did all the wiring and mounted the antenna under the windshield wiper cover. Put it into the ash tray space....blends into the dash fine...no wires hanging around. I can hide it by closing ash tray cover.
When I am near the city and can't get a good free FM channel, I have an aux and just swap to that.
