1st diy oil change

It cost me 65.00 total doing it with a topsider. It was easier than with my Passat and I think my 7 year old could have performed it. The local dealer and indie shop both wanted 160.00 for 1/2 hours worth of work and I told them both to stick it. I'm telling you guys, it's organized crime. I also did mine for the first time on this car last week.very easy! i was wondering though if i got all the oil out because i only saw about 7 quarts in the pump, and i put in 7, and the oil level reads good. i thought someone had mentioned that it holds like 8.5 quarts.what was your experience?

I had 8 1/2 out and 8 1/2 in. Unless there is a 1 1/2 quart difference between a CLK 55 and a CLK 500. I'm not a mechanic but, I wouldn't run around too long on that oil change with 1 1/2 quarts of old oil blended in.

The rest was probably still in the cooler. I would'nt worry too much as you got like 85% of it, just do your next change a little early and make sure you get all the oil out.
