in the past i have just measured from the outside of my tire the the inside of the fender. if do a search on the web for a tire calculator it will allow you to enter the dimensions of the stock tire sizes and the wider sizes you are considering. basically it will let you know how much taller and wider te tires will be and will also tell you how your speedo will be affected. i was looking at getting some 265's myself but having trouble finding 17's that are all season and that wide. may have to go with some summer rubber.
