Loud engine

Anyone else with a CLK63 notice that their engine is abnormally loud? We're talking ticking that can be heard over my brother's (03 Corvette with long tubes and straight pipes) exhaust while he's driving next to me. The main fan sounds like a tornado siren when it goes off. lol That doesn't bother me too much, but the ticking...I can hear it when I'm driving next to barracades. Is this just a characteristic of the 63?

Funny, I test drove a CLK 63 and thought the engine was a little too QUIET unless you put your right foot down. But that was a coupe (test-driven in France) so the impression from inside a cabriolet could be quite different. In any event, with all those valves and cam-shafts it's got a 'busier' sound than the M113 engine it replaced.

I drive my CLK63 like anyone who buys a 475hp car should....I find that when im in drive in either sport or comfort mode, the engine is quiet unless you really hit it. But when shifting through the gears with the paddle shifter in Tip. mode the engine is a beast and roars like no other....I can only imagine what it sounds like with the resinator removed.
