AMG posers

There's a guy who works in the same business park as I do who has a W209 "CLK55 AMG" Cabrio. I haven't taken a good look at the car but it has a single tip exhaust like the 320/350. Did they make a single tipped 55?

I want to be sure before I call the guy out next time I see the car. I used to hate dealing with this kinda crap when I had my E36 M3, possibly the most faked car ever.

I've seen worse: a used C230 WITH a newly purchased ///AMG badge. No attempt to disguise with AMG wheels or body kit...just the badge.

Yea it piss me off as well when I see people who will slap an AMG badge on the back of a non-AMG car. Then off course they are the ones that brag the most. It seems like other things in life. If you brag about how well "endowed" you are or that you have an "AMG" you probably aren't that well hung, and your car would get spanked if ever really tested.

And I know some people are going to say oh what does it matter what people badge their cars? Well I think about it this way, our cars were all hand-built and I am sure the people who built them took great pride in doing so, especially since they signed a name plate that is attached to our engines. Our cars earned that right, its like a black belt in martial arts. If some showed up to a tournament and claimed to be a black belt, people would be pissed because they didn't earn the right to say that or wear it. The same applies hear imo. We are the black belts of Mercedes! And if you show up to a fight claiming to be a black belt AMG and get your ass spanked by something an AMG wouldn't lose to, it reflects poorly on the rest of us. LOL! Anywho I am done with my overthought out rant. Have a nice day people! VIVA LA AMG!!!!

Well in our case - EVERYTHING!!!
AMG installs different: engine, transmission, brakes, springs & shocks, seats and guages, steering wheel, wheels and tires and computer programing and even door sills.

Did i miss anything. AMGs cost 20 to 50 thousand dollars more than a regular model for all those reasons. That is why the badge makes a difference.

Posers

I'm new to the forum and I can understand the frustration you have with people "badging" a car to look like something it isn't. I have a CL 500, that's all, nothing else, nothing else implied with badging or otherwise. My question has to do with CL grills. Isn't this the same as putting an AMG badge on a non AMG car? A C-class with a CL-type grill is kinda posing isn't it? I have Eisenmann exhaust, Renntech LM, and Kleeman diff, do they make a badge to describe my ******* CL since it is no longer original? Oh, I also have 20 inch wheels...I can now officially qualify to put DUB on the car.

Yea that pisses me off too! I had this neighbor who traded their c230 in for a clk 350 amg and then they were all braggin saying yea we have an amg car and my parents were askin me how come theres was less expensive and i was like theyre posers ha...since the dealers put the amg badge on there they think their car is completely amg when all they bought was a regular clk 350 with amg stuff

Wow, that's pretty bad.

Which brings the question, do the Porsche guys run into posers a lot? Like 996's putting a "Turbo" badge on it and stuff? Or how about Boxsters acting like Boxster 'S' !?

why people do this i don't know, will use porsche 911 for example i belive if u have a carrera 2, u can have a gt3 bodykit as long as u leave the carrera badge. the same goes for merc's i have a clk 500 and want to put a amg bodykit on it, however i would never debadge or chage the badge on it.

De-badging always screams "I got the base model" to me.

I agree with the sentiment of your post.

However, that ghey avatar pic of yours has got to go.
