Damn Curbs!!!!

This happened approximately 4 weeks ago but hopefully my boneheaded move will prevent you guys from making the same mistake.

It was a beautiful day and I had the top down making a quick coffee run. I made a slow right turn (20MPH). My passenger side rear tire caught the sharp edge of the handicap ramp on the curb. It sliced the sidewall of the tire (thank God it didn't damage the rim). Here is the total damage:

1. New 245/40/17 Continental Sportcontact 2 = $200
2. Mount and balance = $20
3. Replace bent control arm $400 (included alignment)

$620 mistake in a blink of an eye.

Bottomline:
When driving leisurely, don't try to clip the apex. Take the safe route and make a wide turn. Rim / tire / suspension damange is not worth it.

I stopped by Texas German Autohaus. They attempted to align the car but could not get within the tolerance. After carefully examining the suspension, they noticed the bent control arm. They have NEVER violated my trust in the past 10 years so I give them the benefit of the doubt.

Yes, this was the most expensive cup of coffee that I have had!
