humbled by a Porsche (Dallas TX)

So girl friend and I are coming back from Cedar Hill Tx from that mini Mercedes meet (didn't miss much - a LOT of diesel folks who don't mind wrenching on their car - they did have a 1959 190 D there - oldest benz I had been next to)...

Anyway, so we are cruising northbound on the Tollway coming up on 635 with I see a Porsche 911 coming up at a fair click with one of those big mouth bass air damns (note to self - Turbo!). So I do the gentleman thing and slide out out of the left lane to the center and when I think he's just about on me - I punch it.

This thing roared past me like a monster. My speedo was happily zinging (I thought) it's way up from about 80 to about 110 and this thing blew my doors off. What tha hey?

So I chased after it (not like a nut case or anything at tripple digit speeds - I knew the merge at 635 would slow him down just from the traffic). The badge on the back is "GT2" and it has the fixed wing, quad like (hard to explain) exhaust tips and the "de rigueur" intercooler shark gills on it's ass.

OK - now I feel better. He paid 180K+ and has roughly 450hp/450lb ft (something like that) under his right foot. He also had a great personalized tag - gotta love that attitude

.....not a bad car to be humbled by.

Curious, what was on the vanity plate?

There is a Ferrari in my neighborhood with the license plate: FKNFAST. That's my favorite so far.

Was it Charcoal Gray???

One of the silver ones running around town is a stock 996TT with a GT2 body kit and badging, the Charcoal Gray one is a "real" GT2. I know of another silver one that is a real one, but it was recently sold and I think it's no longer in the DFW area.

BTW: If you ever come across the silver RUF Rturbo on the Tollway, don't even think about it...it's considerably faster then the GT2 and probably the fastest car I've ever been in.

color

I don't see the color on the website - it was more of a soft copper metallic / bronze

I wouldn't mess around with those GT2's unless you've got something around that neighborhood of 450hp+ under your hood!

I've seen a silver one on the tollway. I don't know if was a real one or "just" a TT, though. I was in the bimmer at the time, so I didn't want to try my luck.

u guys wanna hear some funny stories? About a fortnight ago, the local benzo freaks got together for a night of neck rubbing competition. Well, all they got was a night of surprises.

Check this out, an SL55 AMG got smoked by a Camaro Z28 ( souped up), the same geek decided to stupe even lower and raced an Evo 7 Lancer ( souped up) and the distance he managed to achieve between him and the Evo at 140 mph was only 2 bloody car distances!!! Now that was freaky.

Then this other idiot decided to rub his brand new ( custom made) SL 6.1 Brabus alongside a stock M5, guess what benz boys, he got whipped too!! That Beemer can pull G's!! His excuse was " gotta run the engine in"

The only positive event that came out of the night was my favourite baby C32 AMG creaming a souped up Audi S2!

God Bless!

Sadly, there is always some faster car out there, and sometimes you run into it!

Now adding Kleemann for almost $19-20 k to any Benzo including all AMG's sounds like peanuts.

are you talking the same ruf turbo that was in the gumball 3000. because it was rumored by many that the ruf was the fastest car in the competition. even giving the f50 a hard time. yeah anytime you run into a gt2 or ruf, just know that your competing for second place. even the turbos, fast as fu*k too, will give a non supercharged mercedes a trip to the losers circle

Erm you need to compare stock vs stock. Otherwise you could run your M5 against a little civic and lose. Also the 6.1 is slower than the SL55. It runs about 400 bhp nothing shabby but it does not have the torque numbers the 55 has. He should have waited for the K8 instead....

Any chance your in Dubai? I've been trying to find out who owns the TT C32.

Ruf Rturbo

Yes, this is the Ruf from the Gumball and he was faster then the F50. Both cars (and a few others) literally had no paint left on the front end after the Gumball...I guess that's what lots of miles at 180+ will do??? He had the entire front end repainted and put the 3M film on at Stuarts and a new windshield put in after the event.

NICE story!

easiest way to spot the GT2 is the roll bar inside the car. the cross-beam is visible from the back. also GT2 has a longer nose than the turbo.

one can definitely toy with them when he/she buys a W211 E55 AMG

Ermm not exactly called for. Fast cars...... take a look at that site. There are plenty of examples of Skylines totally kicking Lambos. One thing though people need to realize is a very nice daily driver like the GT2 vs a high strung supercar that you can only race in like a highly modiffied skyline. As nice as Skylines are I highly doubt anyone in the world drives a 1000+ hp one as a daily driver.

Fast cars

Wish I would see such cars around here. I'll give them a run in my four door. Guess I need to travel more. Hey, if your not living on the edge you're wasting space and if your not speeding you're wasting time!

16 yearold first car!

Let's not get too personal now, she's my little girl still. Look for my car under Cannonball. Nice pic taken at local road course on E55 forum.
