Yeh, no matter how you try, I always will break loose at least once while trying to take off. Notice how slow I ease into the throttle, and still break.

It depends on what your definition of "it's not stock" is. It's using AMG parts, so It could be called an AMG even though they didn't put it all together in this particular package. Some would say it's highly modified, but when Rob Allen from AMG saw it at our last AMG GTG, he said he wanted to take it back to the factory. This is what it looks like right now, but still needs a few little things yet.

Nice!!!
You need to throw some drag radials on that car and take it to the track!!!Do you have a meth reservoir on the drivers side with the green cap?

I've only hit 4.4 secs to 60 once in a first gear start, and I can guarantee those runs in this vid were no better than 4.7 sec. each. I can hit 4.4 every time now in second gear starts though, but always will break loose somewhere . And you want 3.06 gears, gimme a 2.24 already, it won't hook up with the 2.82's. The e55's are lighter than this car is now, and they can't hook up well with torque management and 2.65's. I will exhaust several more traction ideas before I go the drag radial route, I drive on the screet 99.999% of the time. The reservoir (with pressure cap) is for my seperate pressurized i/c system. |

You can drive on the street with drag radials. I do it all the time. Take it to the track, it is prepped much better than the street and you will be surprised at what happens with the combination of heated d/r's and well prepped track. I bet $100 you will beat your best 0-60 time. Of course you are going to spin if you mash it on the street with street tires starting in first! My car even slightly spins tires at 60 in second gear if I just mash it

I want to daily drive this car at least 20K miles a years and drag radials are not what I'm interested in, although I may get wheelies or broken drivetrain parts from them.Notice I never hardly gave any throttle until it was rolling, I never tried to break the tires loose, just the opposite. It's hard to apply any throttle without breaking the tires loose in first or second. Bear in mind, my car has 600 + lbs more weight then yours (mostly in the rear, and a Quaife differential that will split the torque without locking the two rear wheels together, so even if I'm not absolutely straight it hooks good. A limited slip will let the tires spin easier if your not 100% straight and your lighter rearend doesn'ty help either. Any comparison, even though ours are both CLK55's, is not that similar. Mine is better compared to an E55K, except that I probably am a little heavier still than that car too now. |
