Thinking about project W208 Turbo....

Has this ever been attempted or completed? I was thinking maybe even a twin turbo setup of some sort. The engine bay looks like a setup could fit under the hood. Does anybody know what type of ECU tuning is available for the W208s? Can it be tuned in real time? Does it have a dyno mode? Also, which do you would be better for this project, the 55 engine or the 430? Thanks! To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Awesome project idea. What would your goal for WHP be?

Thanks!

I'd like it to run My CL55 komp with no issues, so I'm shooting for 550 rwhp. I think that should suffice. With a V8 I don't see that being much of a problem. Im thinking of maybe a T3/T4 hybrid turbo setup. What do you guys think?

i had planed on doing this to my clk430. if you are to do this i can put you in contact with very good people that can do this. i was going to run a big turbo on my setup. you will need to lower compression on your car. call me if you need or want any more info.

I have been looking into this for the past year. Custom tuning is pretty much nonexistant for such a project. Fueling will also be a big issue. You would want to do forged pistons/rods to drop compression ratio as well.

I think us 430's got shafted on the forged pistons/rods. I thought the 55's were the only ones with them???

According to the press kit, both the 4.3 and 55 have hydraulically cracked, forged rods, which are topped with forged pistons.

Yes they are forged but the compression ratio is 10.5:1 and you want that lower to run more boost

Wow, I didnt know this!! So why cant we run as high a PSI as the 55's? What else is different besides the bigger displacement?

MB says they are forged but rumor says they are not! This comes from a very reliable source that has taken the motor apart.

Nope, this is not an issue anymore. There is a Tuner up here who has done custom dyno tuning and fueling on our cars now. The tuner has now worked on the two S/C SL500's that came down to MIR that have now been tuned to make 411whp.

He tuned TWO custom Supercharged Benz's with bigger injectors. Same difference. The same guy who tunes Eddie Bello's 8 to 9 sec 911 turbo is the tuner.

Project C55, where is up here? I think you know my friend Jun with the stage 3 E55? Anyway, I didn't have any intention of lowering the compression ratio stock. What PSI did you have in mind for these cars? My major concerns are real time air/fuel mapping and whether or not the transmission will hold up under boost. I had no intention of switching out internals either. Maybe I will have to lower my HP expectations but thats alright with me.

You dont need to make 550whp in your CLK55 to keep up with your CL55. I'm willing to bet my CLK55 would more than keep up with your CL55 and it makes nowhere near 550whp. If your only goal is to keep up/beat your CL55 just give Cory at Kleemann a call, get a supercharger, and you will be fine. You wont need to touch internals.

Cool, thanks. Where do you plan on getting a c/f hood with vents? I would buy just about any c/f hood as long as it fits properly.

Yes I know Joon. Joon is Good People and a Good friend!

The tuner is up in NJ . Get in touch with TechTune(Alex) ,he is one of the owners of one of the two S/C SL500's and can give you all the info .

Myself and Mig_E55_rocket plan on making a trip there as well.
