Finally getting HnR springs for my CLK!!

I just ordered HnR spirng from tirerack. (they got the best price and best shipping, only 19bucks for 2nd day air!!)

anyway, I called local shop and they quoted me for 3hrs on Springs and additional hr for alignment.

which i think kind of good deal for 4hr *90 = $360

So, I pulled trigger and i asked to lube my swaybar bushings so i can fix this squeeking sound!!

I am so excited...

I think you will love the improved handling - and it will get rid of that ugly wheel gap too
Have you considered the H&R sways also now that you are upgrading????

Do me a favor and post photos with the drop!

I plan to get some H&R's too. The problem with them is that the rear sits a helluva lot lower and so the fronts have a huge gap. You end up with a very uneven drop. Myself, I plan to use the thickest spring pad in the rear and use the thinnest spring pad plus cut the fronts 1/2 coil.... I know this isn't the best method but I hate an uneven drop

who told u that? doesnt the front have a further drop than the rear? thus eliminating potential space for any gaps... i've seen plenty of H&R drops, and they all look exquisite...never seen an "uneven" drop or heard of anyone complaining about a "gap" in the front when using H&R...maybe it's the 208's.......?

^ +1 I have heard of a few people having issues with Eibach springs, but never H&R.

The rear could look like it sits lower but that is because of how the wheelwell is not cut up as high as the front. Mine had #2 pad in rear and #4 pad up front stock. I left the 2 in back and put a 2 up front. The way it sits is perfect! The wheelwell to tire gap is even from front to rear. Sorry I don't have pics of it yet, but if you do a search for my previous posts you will see pics of my 430 and my 55 sits the exact same!

you don't need spring pads, i have a CLK 500, When I installed my HR's there was no spring pad needed.

I am asuming your car is a W208.
On a W209, you just need to have the springs installed and life will be good

Boosted may be right, and I am talking about a W209. Here are some photos or another member's ride. After you get the install, please post some photos and we can end this debate hehe. I want to know for sure too.

It "Looks" Uneven. Look at the distance from rim or tire to fender. The rear rim is closer to the fender, even a bit tucked, than the front is.

^your right.

I just PMed a vendor who is selling New H&R Springs for 175+Shipping =P. If I get the deal from him then I will proceed with my plan and hopefully front and rear will look the same. If not, I am sure it would look better than the photos I recently posted up. It will take me 2 weeks until I can have the installation done though.

It is the lower cut rear wheelwell that makes the rear tire look a bit more tucked. That's why I dropped the front a few mm more when I lowered mine. I like the way it looks when the wheel to fender gaps are equal.

Yes, mine's a 208 though so I'm not sure about the 209. Also, the spring pad part numbers can be found if you do a search for spring pads.
