Worst car I've ever owned.

I loved my CLK55 until I found out what a royal piece of crap this thing is. I've had this car for a year, it's a 2002. This thing has had NO LESS than 6 or 7 electrical problems.

I cannot wait to sell it.

A little more info would be helpfull.
How do you have 6 or 7 electrical issues?is it 6 or 7?
if you are not sure how many issues you have why would you guess?maybe it's one issue causing the rest??
Please post more.

Sometimes when i turn on the car,and you look at it from behind(with the lights on)it looks like the lights are flickering?...i do definately have one issue.

So far so good...

D. Brad,

I understand where you're coming from because I felt the same disappointment about my 04 CLK 55 AMG shortly after purchasing it. I bought it used with 63k miles and weeks later my MAF went bad. After learning what the issue was I began to wonder how reliable Mercedes-Benz cars really are? Well, not very reliable at all. However, I must say that once the MAF was fixed I've had no problems with the car! I've had the car for 5 months now and driven 4k miles.....the more I drive it the more I began to really appreaciate it I hope your experience with the car changes for the best in the near future!

guys even toyotas and hondas occassionally have problems. AMG problems are just magnified. i think a good aftermarket warranty is a must. i am sure your electrical problems are frustrating though and of course that is taking away from your ownership experience. but that doesnt mean all MB or AMG products suck.

Too funny,

My 2003 CLK55 was the worst car I ever owned as well (reliability-wise). I drove the car 3,000 miles and it was in the shop 3 times. After that, I just sold it and ran.

And aren't you one of the founding members of the AMG poser club....

Sorry, but that is funny!!!!!

On a more serious note, I previously owned a W208 (CLK430) and the build quality was really HORRIBLE. I was so glad when I got rid of it. On the other hand, my W209 has been great. Honestly, I think it's a crap shoot with Mercedes. And I don't think it matters a damn whether its "one man" or a production line that builds your car - you can still end up with an expensive POS.

Why is it funny? I had a legit AMG so it isn't like I was being a hypocrite. I'm glad you are having a trouble-free experience but I feel like that is the exception and not the norm. The one man building only applies to the engines which appear to be bulletproof. The rest of the car, I believe, is assembled differently and subject to the Benz/Chrysler POS parts bin.
