I got a fix-it ticket in California a few years ago and the normal procedure is to have a cop sign off on the repair. Just flag one down on the street, they say. But try this instead. Call the number on the ticket and tell them your car is in the shop for repairs for several weeks and see if they admit to you that fix-it tickets aren't actually logged into any computers and that you can just blow it off. That's what happened to me. I've always figured the hassle of a fix-it ticket is better than the hassle of photo-radar snapping a pic of your front plate.

you could just get some zip ties and mount it to the mesh grill in the front... just make sure you leave your windows down when they go to inspect it so no tint ticket too. I think you can do it at you local PD too.

could roll them down, then pull the fuse that controls the windows... claim they're broken... which they would be at the time

Put a Front Plate on and make sure it is securely attached to the bumper, otherwise they will make you take it off!!!
Then Go to your nearest CHP and have an Officer sign it off.The CHP performs the inspection for free. Make sure that your windows are down when you park the car,if they are tinted, all doe they might not even go outside to check the car, they might just sign it off for you. Then you will send the Ticket to the Courthouse listed on your Ticket,it is marked which one,and include a check for 10$

I used a couple of L brackets and mounted my front plate low on the front of the bumper and angled it to follow the slope of the bumper. I like this better then putting it on the impact strip

What was the cost of the ticket? We are only issued one license plate in this state.

In Der People's Republik of Kalifornia, a license plate fix it ticket is literally a 'fix it' ticket. I've had countless no front plate tickets dating back to the 1970's. Bolt on a plate, drive it to the local CHP or police station, they'll look at it, and sign off the ticket. At that point, the ticket can be taken to the presiding court house. If the city that issued the ticket is real cheap (cough cough . . . . .Santa Monica), they’ll tack on a minimal fee ($25 or so). I've personally been turned away by various PD’s who will not sign off on a plate secured with zip ties, coat hangars, and single bolt contraptions (getting a plate to stick to the front of a 73 Porsche without the factory bracket or drilling requires a trip to the local hardware store).

Wow - talk about picky....although I did receive a ticket 7 or 8 years ago for "improper display of decal". I went to court and it was dismissed. No court costs or fine.

I just got my tint too. It was hella expensive (premium ceramic) i hope they don't spot it! Or i will cry.
What a pain in the ass When he had me pulled over my radar detect was freakin out! Good thing he couldn't see the inside of my dash cause it was like i had a freakin missle lock, lights blinkin all over.

Down here in FL, we have no state income tax, just sales and property taxes. With the economy in the toilet, we are getting less tourism so that revenue stream is getting squeezed, and with falling property values everyone is petitioning to have their tax assessments adjusted downward, and so that revenue stream is getting squeezed at the same time. As a result, all these little municipalities are cranking up the pressure on the porkers to generate a lot more revenue, and it's getting to the point where on my normal drive between Jacksonville and Daytona Beach, there are at least 3 or 4 cops hiding under bridges, behind bushes, etc., using radar. It's getting really ridiculous, as are the things they cite you for. The ticket prices are getting really expensive as well, a regular speeding ticket now starts at $100 or so, and then the county adds their fees to it, so by the time you're done you'll wind up paying $150+ for going 6 over the limit. The laser traps I actually have no problems with, since it's a line-of-sight thing, and as long as I periodically scan the median and sides of the road I can always see them sitting there before they hit me. Radar is another story though, since they can be miles away, or hiding behind things, and that detector has paid for itself soooo many times over.

My local tint shop has a friend in the CHP so all his preferred customers get free sign off's....... he has saved me twice already for no plate and tinted front windows.

I used to live in VA: talk about asinine traffic tickets and taxation. They passed a law that skyrocketed traffic fines for certain offenses (decided at the discretion of the officer...hello meeting quotas!) The law made a speeding ticket end up costing several thousand dollars, yet only applied to VA residents (so someone traveling through could commit the same offense and only pay a few hundred bucks.) When I left, the residents were petitioning like crazy to have the law repealed.
