Secondary cats
Hi,
my name is Anders and I live in Sweden. I use to lurk around here on mbworld every now and then and saw your post about the secondary cats. I am in the process of upgrading my CLK 55 AMG W208, for the moment I am looking at Kleemann headers and ECU tune. Since these headers includes downpipes without primary cats I would like to keep the stock downpipes uncut if there for some reason (legislation) will be a need to put them back on the car again. To be able to do that I need a pair of other seondary cats, either stock or hi-flow metallics to weld the Kleemann downpipes to. That is where your secondaries comes in. Are they still on sale? If so, what price did you have in mind? Best regards /Anders Ahlin |

While they are out of the car can you take pictures of the cores inside? it would be nice for reference sake for all the CLK owners to see exactly what they are like (just a suggestion). Good luck, bump

Since everyone knows what a good cat looks like, I thought I'd toss in a couple of photos of some not so good cats. They're both ceramic cats from an article I wrote. The first is why you don’t want to run anything other than gasoline. Ever wonder what happens when someone regularly runs wiz-tech engine/intake cleaners, blows a head gasket, or has bad valve guides? Mystery oil/antifreeze/brand name oil doesn't burn and clogs the cat.
The second photo is what happens when the center substrate comes loose and the owner ignores the rattle long enough. ![]() ![]()
