c55 vs. clk55

Why is the c55 less expensive than the clk55? I would think that the bigger car would cost a bit more, but the clk55 is considerably more expensive, it appears. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Because of the class. C-class is the entry level, slk, ML, Clk, E...etc

The CLK55 (W208) was offered with very few options. Most everything came standard on the $67,400 (MSRP) coupe.

Many of the W203 cars (both C32 and C55) had many options available. Similarly equipped cars could easily sticker in the mid 60s.

I'm guessing this is probably why mercedes is going from clk name to e-class coupe since the clk name gets compared to the c class

I'm guessing this is why mercedes is moving from the name clk to e-class coupe since the clk gets compared to the c-class in the minds of the buyers
