Cool car for sure. They are a bit on the heavy side. I couldnt tell you about the car, as I have a C55, but the drive train is top notch. IF you must have a convertible why not make it a n AMG. I think you will have a hard time finding a W209 55 convertible in the $20's. If in the 20's is were you want to stay, You might have to make some sacrifices. Like a CLK500 convertible or maybe CLK55 (non convertible). You might have to find out what you want the most. Power or wind & sun. If its power your after and want to stay in the 20's maybe look at a C55.

I did a quick nationwide search of the MB USA database for 2005 CLK55 cabs. There are no CPO's in that price range. If you flip your numbers (20K MILES and 35-50K DOLLARS), you may find what you're looking for. Here are the 2005 CPO CLK55 cabs I saw:
These cars are dependable if the maintenance is performed. Like anything else, they have normal wear items that will need to be replaced. If you find a CLK55 cab, with low mileage for $20K, I highly recommend that you spend the money and get a full inspection at a Mercedes-Benz dealership before you make your purchase. Many people buy a cheap Mercedes-Benz at some corner lot, one with no maintenance history, and then post how "their" car is falling apart, how the dealer wants mega dollars to fix their heap, etc. I'm not sure you could buy a 2005 CLK320 for $20K. My nationwide database search showed 1 car, with 44K miles, and no, it wasn't a CPO.

Here is an example...
I am coming from a gs400. Not a single problem and a good deal of performance. I want a conv, and do not like the SC430 from Lexus.
Here is vehicle I found. It is a 2004 though. What was changed from 04-05? Looks like wheels. This one does not have Nav, which I want. http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...ce=&cardist=82 |

The '05 got the quad exhaust (coupe), 18" wheels, different NAV, upgraded brakes (six piston calipers), nano paint, and upgraded SpeedShift. There are probably other changes.
If you think the car at Carsource is a good car, you may want to buy it. As I posted earlier, you may also want to have it inspected at a dealership. The inspection may explain why Carsource wants the exact same price for the 2005 CLK320 cab they have, as they do for the CLK55 cab you pointed out.

There are a lot of good deals on 55 coupes in the $20k range. Plus the economy is prime for some negotiating. 50k-60k miles isn't anything...... to the ones saying buy one with 20-30k miles, have fun getting ass raped by the dealer.

Also try Vehix.com for more cars. That's a very good price for an 04 cab.
