Hey bro,
So here it is, the resonator is a good place to start (just remember if you take it out you will get a loud droning noise inside the car)!
As for the quad-exhaust setup, there are many different ways of going about this. However if you are looking for a true quad-exhaust you will have to change out the spare tire tube.
If you are looking for performance, I would just keep the stock exhaust as it is about as free flowing as they get and pick up a like set of headers! It will make your car sound like a best, give you some performance, and back will keep the car looking like a sleeper
good companies to look at
VRP (used to have sick longtubes)
kleemann
rennteck
and i believe there are some others site sponsers that also have headers and exhaust setups

i have a 2003 with the single exhaust set-up. our amg's come with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust. i would leave the resonators and cats alone. i swapped my stock muffler for a four chamber muffler made by IMCO and added some Magnaflow stainless tips to finish off the look. the car has a low deep rumble and really wakes up when you step on it. but it is not too loud and is definitely not raspy. some backpressure is a good thing.
