2005 CLK Reliabilty score with problem spots noted

I meant to say 2003-2008 CLK reliability scores...........Have you guys seen this site?

http://consumerguideauto.howstuffwor...benz-clk-2.htm

And very importantly have any of you experienced firsthand or anecdotally any of the trouble spots they mention?

I have a Pre-certified Used 2004 CLK 55 AMG with Carfax and I have experienced '0' issues with all the mentioned issues listed in that article. The only problems that I've had has been a bad MAF sensor and Purge Valve...I bought a new MAF sensor for about $150 bucks (more than 50% cheaper than buying from the stealership) installed it myself...done. No issues ever since. However the purge valve has been replaced twice and it is still an issue as my CEL (Check Engine Light) continues to come...I took the car to my local MB shop who happens to be my personal mechanic and he can't fix it for chit. lol Maybe it's my mechanic but that seems to be the only headache that I've had with the car so far but I love driving it!

I've had the following happen to mine:

"Transmission leak: Transmission fluid leaks from the electrical connector and may also travel through the wires to the electronic control unit requiring the connector and necessary O-rings be replaced. 2003)"

Any kind of transmission issues will cost you...especially on these AMG cars unless it's covered under warranty...

That site is a joke. A "clutch" is $915? In a CLK? LOL. And the CV joints are $4500? At a dealer, MSRP for a complete axle is $850. Times, two, makes labor about $1K per hour? Other than BlackBenzz, who else is breaking axles?

I liked the one about he iPod issue. Volume can be controlled via steering wheel, just not song selection, but it's not an issue

knocking on wood ... none of these happened to me so far ... the only problem i had was the R headlight needed to be replaced (the module not the bulb) and was covered under warranty.

i had the same problem, fixed under warranty at no charge.

no i'm starting to have "Electrical issues", which may all be related:

1. SRS malfunction is lit on dash
2. Passenger seatbelt arm does not move at all
3. Driver seat headrest won't move
4. Driver seat won't release using latch to access rear seat

i have another issue which the dealer has tried to fix several times but without success.....when making a left turn something is rubbing in the passenger front wheel area causing a speed sensitive ticking noise.

Fourml8r, when did you start having these problems? My used 05 cab just came in today and I'm wondering of extended warranty is needed.
