Bought a new car...my first Merc :-)

I had wanted to get a blue CLK 430 with grey interior.... but I found this beauty by chance with less k's and not much more money.

I've been a member here for a while... but never owned a merc myself :-)

So this is my first. I have high expectations..... even though she isn't the newest kid on the block... I think it's one of the more masculine modern coupes.

P.S that's not me in the pic.... it's the guy selling it.

I think I will treat the leather seat with Leatherique as soon as I get it. I've already ordered new AMG mats and a new Badge.... :-)

The only other thing I've noticed is that the passenger seat doesn't move forward electronically like the drivers when you pull the handle... but the seat does adjust with the controls on the door any ideas??

Very nice and it looks like it has a custom exhaust installed already.

Word of advice..DO NOT BUY OR APPLY AMG BADGES or you will feel the hate wrath of the real AMG car owners on this forum. Our 430's are not REAL AMG's we only have the body kit installed but the really important gear like the hand built 5.5 liter engine, upgraded Tranny and suspension are not there.

As far as the passenger seat not moving forward when you pull the handle, do this:

Push the button to move the seat all the way forward as far as it can go and then push the button to move the seat all the way to the rear. After this is done put the seat to where you would normally use or want it to be. NOW, you should be able to pull the handle and pull the seat forward and the seat will automatically move itself to the foward position on its own and when you flip the seat back it should now move back to the original position on its own.

Hope this helps and WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!

Greg

Yeah it is a CLK 55.... that's why I am in this forum :-)
I had been looking at a 430... but got this instead.
The car has nothing custom. It's never been tampered with.

Thanks for the advice with the seat. I will try it when I pick the car up next week !!

Congrats and welcome!

Those rotors look a bit rusty - time to put some miles on that beast!

Welcome aboard!

These are great cars ... except for the electric seats. Mine have been repaired four times.

Congrats, I love mine just got it a few weeks back. You'll love it.

Only thing I wish it had is that it came with the Supercharged V8 variant.

Are they 430 rims??

I'm not sure. Maybe it's a european thing. Air conditioning was probably an option. haha.

Just to put things into perspective this car here... even though 2 hours from Stuttgart costs about the equivalent of 130 k USD.

I'm not sure what you guys would pay there new.... but I assume it is much much less.

About 72k USD back in 01-02. I picked mine up about a month ago for in the teens USD with 37k on the clock.

W208/55s sold here (in the U.S.) were fitted with AMG's 17" Monoblock II wheel.

Perhaps euro owners can confirm, but I believe W208/55s in europe were fitted with the 5-spoke AMG wheels from the CLK430.

Europeans pay more but get less haha (but still not nearly as much as the poor Aussies have to pay )

That's ok I like the wheels anyway.....

There are lots of cars here from the US here . People buy them slightly used and import them here ...

I can confirm - that 17 inch five spoke AMG Style I was standard issue in the German homeland and elsewhere. They are exceptionally light and it's hard to get a more pure AMG look. Enjoy!

Oh my bad. I didn't realize you were outside the US. I had those rims on my CLK430 and they were awesome. Easy to clean too.
