almost did it....trading in the 55 for ??

I have been looking for a car to replace my aging 55. There was Audi S4 but I quickly backed out because all the transmission problems they had. I went to BMW 335 and test drove the car, it was a great car, great potential (I6 with two snails) but BMW is not addressing the fuel pump porblem it has, and I walked away from that as well.

Just for fun, I went to Mitsubishi dealrship and test drove the EVO MR. The car is simply amazing. Fast, nimble, twin clutch shifts like there is no gear. Deal was great because no one can justify buying a 40000 mitsubishi, and they were dying to sell their last 08. They offered me 37000 OTD. So I thought to mysel,,,, fine, the boy racer in me still lives on, I will do it.

The sales rep went to the office to present the final offer from me to the boss. All the sudden, my wife turned to me and said:" Honey, you sure you want to do it? Look at that car (EVO), and look at your 55, even I know they are not in the same category". then it hits me, she is right, no matter how mitsubish is technology advacned in this car, the luxury and "wow" factor is simply no comparison.

Needless to say, my hunt of replacing my 55 continues on. Perhaps it is a sign that I should just keep this car forever.

Keep the car funky.

I had a CLK500 back in 2003. Sold it in 2004 for a 911. Although I love my 911, I missed driving the CLK. Fast forward to 9-11-2009...picked up a 2004 CLK55 and couldn't be happier. I just love it. You're crazy to sell it for a Mitsubishi or a BMW. Often, the grass is not greener on the other side.

Haha. I am in the process of selling my 01 CLK55 right now, then will start searching for a 04 40th just like you have. What a coincidence.

Powerwise how does the 911 compare to the CLK55?

To the OP. You should buy a slightly used EVO, as they can be had in the 20's already. I don't know about the MR with its transmission, but the GSR's are gaining 100whp with just a flash.

the Mitsubishi EVO is an amazing car
my friend has the EVO 9 and that thing is a beast and he drove me to the dealership when I picked up my 55 and we were racing on the highway on the way back most fun I ever had in my life
that was back when his car was stock with a moded exhaust only
now he is running over 400 ponies meaning I can just call his cell and ask him which area code he's gotten to after we race :P
but in the end we both agree that a 55 is a better ride and a better drive just keep it or get another newer 63

I would also take an 05 CLK55 over a 9.
