soon to be...Couple questions

I am in the market for a CLK 55 for my daily driver. I have been a porsche 968 guy for some time and selling my highly modified 968. (www.968s.com)

Any way I am looking for some pointers on what to look for when shopping any major mechanical problems that are common amongst these cars.

Basically any pointers. I get really involved with my cars. I am looking forward to digging into the CLK55!

So. Cal CLK55,
Welcome to the forum.
The CLK55 is an amazing car. I have had very few problems with my car. All minor, broken window motor and a head light went out. Other than that nothing else has gone wrong.
If you plan to heavily modify it you will find that there are only a few good tuners out there. You’re luckily that one of the best MB tuners is located in So Cal. EVOsport, talk to Ben or Vadim they will lead you in the right direction.
The other tuner Brabus IMO is over priced.
Have fun with your new ride and post some pictures,
Tim

Thanks... Modding hmmm... I am going light this time I went crazy with my project. It is fun but it causes stress in your life several ways... Lots of time and Money was donated to that vehicle... More time in tuners shops then on the road! I am looking forward to enjoying all this car has to offer now... But when you get the bug you get the bug. 18" wheels will be an immediate need...

Figures... What are you reffering to? How much I poured into the car or what My asking price is? BTW it is a 968 not a 928... although it will dust a 928!

Eric

This should be what your looking for the car is nuts... Not your stock 968 Cab at any means... The front end is taken from the Turbo S.

Nice 968S

How heavy is that beast? What are your 0-to-60 figures and your 1/4 mile? I've run from a rolling start against a turbo 944 before and had him taking double takes as I pulled along side him around to 90mph (He actually took off and I chased him down). You'll learn to REALLY like these CLK55's since the horsepower starts where yours left off. Once you mod them, they can become EXTREME beasts. If your seeking a silver non-moded 55, let me know as I am asking a reasonable price for mine (not even advertised at this time...Can you say..not really committed to selling it?). If your seeking a nice pre-mod'd CLK55, I think Timster would consider selling his...

3400Lbs... Stock compression 5Lbs of boost.... No idea on the 0-60 time well under 5 seconds the 1/4 mile don't really race it like that so again no idea. For reference the Turbo S 305Bhp (never made it to the US) ran 4.9sec 0-60 and a top speed of 175Mph. This car has been blown with an extra 100HP. It is quick... I will tell you a properly modded 944 will dust most cars on the road. I actually hate the boxy front end of the 944/951... But I have seen many with well over 400HP to the ground. So you have to give them respect. The 944 N/A is a different story.
