I just bought a new set of wheel's from Harris "SEE BELOW" fo my 2004 CLK55, he told me they are very light so the ride should not be much stiffer as I have low back problems, and plus I love brushed aluminum!! The tires are supposed be good for a warm or should I say a hot climate as well as rainy conditions, though I understand what the dealer ment about being careful while driving in the rain. I hope to have the wheel's installed by mid-September. I'll take pictures ASAP.

HRE 840R (18x8.5/18x9.5)-Brushed Aluminum finish-Michelin PS2

Mark

PS- Anyone ever hear a click from the trans. when putting their car in reverse or starting out from a dead stop?? Thanks!

Cool I see what you mean, i'll try to back up out of my garage a bit slower and as far as shifting goes i am more used to stick, plus I rode motorcycles for years. i'm not quite sure if i should take my foot off the gas while shifting, or is it more like speed shifting using a cluch? I just started using the manual, can't quite get a feel for it like I would with a cluch either. any further suggestions would be great! one thing is for sure, its fun as hell!

Thanks

Mark

First let me say nothing against Harris I just bought some RENNtech springs from him and would buy from him again. But very light and HRE do not go together. HRE's are not heavy wheels but they are not super light either. HRE's should be purchased for looks not for reduction in unsprung weight.

As far as shifting (manual or otherwise) in the AMG just keep the foot planted. There is no need to lift.

Yes, they are lighter than stock. But Rosanne is lighter than an Elephant and I still would not want her on top of me :p

U want mod info?

I want to mod my car too.
I got HRE 19" 847R with Pirelli Nero-$7000.
Well then I wanted to lower my car.
So I got PSS9($1700) system. It will give you more back pain for sure even with setting 9 all around.
If you have done wheels and sus. You are likely to spend around 10K. It is at least in my case.
I would like to do Carlsson body, Powerchip ECU, Evo's pulley and an air filter.
If I want more performance maybe brakes and supercharger.. I would rather buy another car for the cost IMO.
I am still searching for new mods. Don't touch the engine or anything major yet because you want to do it slowly to make sure everything works.

Here are my researches so far.

1.Brakes -
*Brembo BBK(355mm/328mm) = $5200 if you get a good dealer.. ^^;;
Custom - 4 piston 380mm and 328mm rear = $6000
- 8 piston 380mm and 328mm rear = $8000
(This info is for very special order through Brembo)
*Movit Custom - 6 piston CNC Billet Caliper 370mm
+ 4 piston CNC Billet Caliper 342mm = $8000
*Wilwood Custom - 8 Piston 380mm Front/Rear = $7300
*Stoptech - 4 piston 355mm + 4 piston rear = $5000

Just this Catagory should give you a headache since there isn't much official mag. reviews on these brakes. IMO, You definitely need this done before big engine mods. NO one wants to crash right?

2. ECU -
*AMG - a special order it when ordering the car - limited to 186mph
*Kleemann - +10-15hp/tq with Vmax limited at 186mph = $700
*Carlsson - Some hp/tq gains + Vmax limited at 186mph = I think it's $2000
*Renntech - +10hp/tq = $1500 with carbon airbox +20hp/25tq = $3000
I believe this also comes with Vmax @ 186mph
*Powerchip - +25hp/tq = $1500 V-max delimited but not documented.

I will definitely do Powerchip soon. I will tell u how it turns out.

3. Sus -
*AMG- a special order it when you order the car. Special kit available = $3000 or more
*Bilstein- PSS9 ride height and seting adjustable. =$1700-2100
*Carlsson - lowering spring = $400-500
Sport sus = $1700
RS sus. Similar product to PSS9. = $2700
*Renntech - Spring for stock sus = $400-500
Subframe modification = $3000
*Brabus - lowering spring = $500
For me, PSS9 works like a magic.

4. Bodykits -
*Brabus - Front Bumper with double fog lights and a spoler lip. Leave you stock muffler. They look better.
*Carlsson - Front Bumper with spoiler lip.
RS Front Bumper with RS lip with side airgaps.
2 or 4 exhausts setup for rear with bumpers
*Fabulous - I don't know about this.. It's up to you.
*Inden Design - Good looking Quad Exhausts.
*Lorinser - Front/Rear Bumper
Attractive side fenders.. I want them
Side skirts
*MH Dezent - Quad exhausts.

There are more tuners and I didn't list the price because of Euro rates. Prices fluctuates a lot.

5. Misc.
*Door sill - custom or from AMG(I will show you this one soon.)
*Lights - I saw the one with Razo lights and it looked cool. U can find the car in Benzworld.
*CF interior - it's sold on internet. Just get the cheap one.
type "CLK carbon fibeer interior" in Yahoo.
The site is easy to find.
*Pulley - Evosport - I want this very bad. The price is right and the HP gain is right as well. a very attractive upgrade with ECU, I think.

Just to let you know, prices can be different from dealers.
Good luck on your tuning.
