Just came across this short video. One of those AMG custom order kinda things us in the USA can't do, at least for now. I assume these AMG Performance Centers will allow us to do this at a charge? Does anyone know? I haven't been in the AMG PL chat in a while and not sure if somebody asked that question to the powers to be.

I think you are confusing these with the Performance Studio.

Very cool color. Me like very much! Thought somebody said the CLK63 BS couldn't be run through the Performance Studio? Doesn't really look like the case here though. Nice find!

I have attempted to talk to Affalterbach about modifications to a U.S. spec car, and they have emphatically replied that they will not touch it. Too many legal restrictions.

Also, I will agree with Dave (C43AMG) that if you've got the money (and a non-U.S. AMG), Affalterbach can and will do almost anything your little heart desires.

Before I bought my SL in 04 I was going to buy an E55 and i wanted it in Mars REd. I buy my cars from MBManhattan and they were able to do this for a 10.000 non refundable upfront deposit.

For a US based customer, the only way to get the Performance Studio to modify a car is to have them do it to a brand new car and sold through their dealer network here in NA.

I agree when it comes to mods that effect the safety or operational status of a vehicle. In this case, I am sure if you are willing to pay for it the Performance Studio will paint the vehicle the color of your choice.

makes no sense, they are plenty of high end body shops, that do $100,000 cars and show cars, that will paint the car with the same BASF
GLASSURIT paint that AMG uses, for like $5000-$7500

some of the car show customs I have seen and driven, have way better paint jobs that the factory mercs.. sadly...

my SL had a slight orange peel and reflection abnormality on one panel when it was brand new,, from factory,,and have seen many like that if you know what to look for,
and when I got scratched recently and had a good Body SHOP repaint it with BASF paint, same paint merc uses,, it looks way better now, with 2 clear coats and hand color sanding..
if a master paint buy knows what they are doing,, you can paint a car any color and it will look amazing

was at the dealer other day, and noticed alot of the 2009's have bad paint runs and drips where people dont look, like in the gas filler inside, underside, and in engine bay..

robots are cheap, for sure, but can;t always see when paint starts to run and back off,, lol, but humans given enough time and creative effort can do amazing things with cars
aftermarket.. given enough money lol

Blue exterior CLK63 Black Series...

Very rare or one off? I'm thinking one-off since it's not on the MB menu.

the amount of work put into this garson sl600 is nothing short of amazing. each swarovski crystal is applied individually by hand! AND the crystals follow the lines of the body. simply amazing attention to detail.
