Check out this friendly seller from EBay... had a set of OEM BS wheels...

This guy had some BS OEM wheels on EBay for sale. I made him an offer after the wheels had been posted for over 2 months. Check out the response I got back from him. Gotta admit he took a lot of time to write this, considering all that he had to do was "decline" my offer. I cut and paste his response back to me.

"Dear rkjacobs,

You are the winner. Seriously, you are the biggest f-ing idiot of
the day. Congratulations.

We had 3 sets of them, moron. This is the last set. Meanwhile,
you just go down to your local Wal-Mart and buy yourself your
own set that you've wasted the last 8 months of your life
dreaming about obtaining but never will. Because these are
readily available, anywhere anytime. Right? With coupons.
Really. They sell Genuine AMG Mercedes-Benz AMG BLACK
SERIES CLK63 on every street corner in every town. So just go
get your own set by climbing into your POS 5 year-old E-class
that you post about day-and-night on E-Class Weenie
Forum.com everyday, and drive into your local town - Podunk to
get them.

Maggots like yourself are the blood-suckers of eBay. You bring
NOTHING to this venue and all you to do is try to LEECH.

Stop e-mailing as we will never sell a broke-ass bottom-feeder
jerkwater keyboard-cowboy like yourself a single thing. At any
price. Ever. 'RKJACOBS'"

Good-bye, Your Royal Highness King Jerk-off of Internet-

Just for FYI: The item number is: 120354622739

Maybe a few more of us can annoy him with offers lower than what he is asking for them, see what other coomical replies we can get out of him.

He goes by seller ID: "direct"

I've received a lot of low ball offers over the years on various items, I just delete them without replying. I have better use of my time rather than being an ahole and sending a reply like the one above.

Any what did you offer? 2 grand?

I looked at these to buy and powder coat black. By the time I would be done, it would be 6k. I can buy a nice set of wheels for 6k.

He is asking too much.

I would report this to eBay customer service and let them deal with it. His answer is totally un-called for and he should be put on probation or suspended.

Hate to say it but, eBay wouldn't give a sh!t about this one. He didn't threaten, commit fraud or any other nasty blatant infraction of eBay law. The seller has 10,000+ feedback rating at 99.9% positive so unless the OP has some sort of connection deep within eBay, reporting this response isn't going to go anywhere and would be even a bigger waste of time and energy than the sellers response....

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that there was more than just a low ball offer ... maybe some other communications not disclosed here ??? Seems like an awfully harsh response from an experienced Ebay seller for receiving a simple low ball offer.

My business is the seller in this matter. We will do $2 Million on eBay alone this year and that is about half of our annual revenue, the other half coming from sales to dealers and body shops. It is my business that I built from nothing. We have four full-time employees including computer, office and warehouse and this year we added health insurance for everyone. We work very hard to make all of our customers happy, and given that about 1/2 of what we sell is deemed 'used', there is a subjective opinion therein. What I'm saying here is - it is very hard to make as many people as happy as we do and anyone with a SELLING feedback rating over 1000 knows what I'm talking about. But we do our best and we do a very good job of it.

Where does our stuff come from? Some comes new from the manufacturers and items such as the CLK63 Black Series wheels/tires came from a custom tuner shop when someone changed out their wheels/tires. Just about everything we sell is OEM. I'm not trying to make a sales pitch here (there is no link) but I am compelled to explain. And not because I'm afraid of losing whatever business we do/don't get from this website but because I think readers should be able to see both sides of the story.

First, I personally do not regularly handle e-mail inquiries. I have a wonderful person who answers about 150 e-mails a day including just a ton of low-ball offers. I spend most of my energies in competitive procurement. So given how hard I work to FIND the items people want at prices they'll want to pay, I'm grateful to be buffered from most of that not-so-nice stuff. We actually had a total of 3 sets of those wheels/tires - all from the same tuner that seemed to be modifying those cars. I'm sure you people here know, what it would take to attempt to duplicate the value in them, over the Mercedes-Benz dealer's parts counter. And suffice to say, my company paid dearly for them. So low-ball offers are insulting, but that I/we can handle that. And further, two sets are gone and we have our last set. Who will buy them? Well the first set was bought by an insurance company when someone's wheels/tires were stolen, and the second set was exported to South America to someone I believe wanted a set for racing. Each party 'had' to have OEM, and again - you can imagine what the dealer gets for them.

Again, I do not regularly answer e-mails but I will from time-to-time scan them for the higher ticket items as-these, and suffice to say rkjacobs63' 'offer' was not only low, it dripped with sarcasm. THAT was not necessary. And at the end of a particularly long and challenging day, and in-light of the aforementioned, he was duly served. Do I regret it? Hmm, perhaps. But only because that sort of activity is draining to one's inner peace and I was already drained.

Just how often, do you see these particular wheels/tires on eBay? At what point, does an offer become an insult? Are buyers entitled to freely insult sellers - and I'm not talking just about the amount of money, but the sarcastic attitude? eBay has become terribly rigged in favor of buyers, from feedback all the way through to chargebacks, it is a buyer's paradise at the expense of sellers. Thankfully, as eBay Titanium PowerSellers we are provided with a talented and readily available representative so we are 'armed' so to speak to buffer unfairness. Nevertheless, may I remind you that eBay was based on the premise that,
"People are generally good."

So does needlessly being sarcastic, qualify as being generally good?

And further, with regard to his rally-cry above of:
"Maybe a few more of us can annoy him with offers lower than what he is asking for them, see what other coomical replies we can get out of him."

Well, God Bless you sir.

My fiance put it quite well - if you want to see into a person's true character, watch what they write online anonymously, as well as how they behave in traffic.

Perhaps rkjacobs63 is an exalted poo-bah here, his directive will be followed, and we'll be besieged with annoying e-mails, to which my eBay person could care less as she is unaffected by insulting offers. Or perhaps some of you will read between the lines and decide for yourselves.

Apparently this forum is for CLK63 Black Series owners and enthusiasts. While I concede I do not have one nor follow them very closely, I do occasionally participate on another automotive enthusiast forum for owners of a particular exotic car. My point is, these aren't cheap cars and chances are, to own one you have to be reasonably well-off, and likely, moderately to fairly intelligent.
Ergo, you have the wherewithal, thank-you for your consideration.

respectfully submitted,

Direct Performance

Actually, the act of his offer is what could get him, suspended. Were we to report it.

Well, I guess that settles it then?

As with most things like this, the truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

I agree with you that eBay is completely stacked against the seller these days and to have 1000+ positive feedbacks is quite an accomplishment.

Time to let it go fellas.

From what I remember on eBay, you can set a minimum best offer amount in which it automatically declines the offer, without an further input from the seller. (other than the initial listing.) So was rkjacobs63, so low that the person handling e-mail for the company on ebay, decided to reply back what was posted above?

Man that was a tough response back, regardless and a few assumptions were also made about the buyers vehicle. Being a former powerseller myself, I can easily recall offers on the lower side. But once in a counteroffer back to a buyer, the response was hoping I "would of made a mistake and click accept" entitling me to sell him the item for the low submitted offer. Was this rkjacobs63 intent? Additionally eBay probably will have no recourse for the sellers response back to the buyer. They are more concerned with fraud, copy written, or illegal items.

You are correct, that is how I sell big $ items; BIN or BO with an auto-reject for low ball offers.

I looked at the item and it was set up as a BIN only and didn't allow for offers. Sounds like the OP contacted the seller outside the auction and made the offer. I'm sure the seller will correct me if I'm incorrect.

Very simple... the other side of the story

Here is the other-side of this now very funny story that has received way more attention that I could have ever dreamed of.... "Direct" has had these wheels on Ebay for many, many, many, weeks. I'm sure somebody out there can figure out and tell us exactly how many. And no, EBay isn't geared for favoring "buyers". What's favoring buyers is called a recession. Everything is a buyers market right now (wake up people). So yes, I offered $2k. The last planet I visited...that's how auctions work, right....? Seller puts their stuff up for sale, if they get no bids, they lower the price, buyer counters with a lower price, so on and so on.. and viola! sooner or later they come together with a agreed upon price. I don't think my first offer is out of line for an item that has been for sale for some time. Now, I do read (like you all can as well) that he ("direct") said in his email to me... he had "3 sets".. well somebody is fibbing, because his ad description on Ebay says that they are (in quotes) "Obviously My ONLY Set" (I'm sure he will change this now)... Hmmm 3 sets or the "ONLY set." Anyway, I'm sure "Direct" will now sell these wheel since I have given him the best forum he could ever wish for to sell his BS OEM wheels. I think I'm due a commission? So, in summary I don't think a starting offer (like mine) deserves the response that I received. I never said anything mean or disparagaing to "direct".... I simply made a offer. So I do think he should fine tune his cutomer service practices.. or sell me those wheels for $2k.. what do you think?

You asked.....

First off, you post something as vague as you did folks are naturally going to assume you low balled and insulted the guy. Posting his response is/was probably not cool either. Not the classiest thing I've ever seen (not the worst either)..... Neither was his response to your offer or his post of today..... All should have probably been kept private!

Second, just b/c he now says he had 3 sets - perhaps he's already sold the other two. Maybe he had 3 seperate sets, each one individually and he's now on the most current set? I've seen his auctions myself months and months ago and assumed the same thing you did....... Seller, perhaps you should use different pictures or a different background????

Last, his auction didn't allow for offers. His auction was a BIN so YES while technically not outside eBay, your offer WAS outside the auction.......

one more thing...(cause this is so damn fun)

As to his comment...
"My fiance put it quite well - if you want to see into a person's true character, watch what they write online anonymously, as well as how they behave in traffic."

You will notice who is "anonymous" here.. his screen name is "direct".. mine screen name is, well... speaks for itself.

And as far as "behave in traffic" well, I drive sports cars, what can I say... got me on that one!

Direct.. it's ok. We all do stupid things at times. Just try saying "sorry" I had a bad hair day. And sell me those damn wheels for $2k.. (COD) of course. If you do you will go to heaven when you die.

*** BS forum... how much would you pay for these wheels/tires. Lets let the forum determine a fair price. What would you pay for these things ???... and I'll pay it!

You good for the game Mr. "Direct." (His screen me is kinda like "Madonna" or "Prince" or "Gumby" or "Zorro")... just one powerful word.
