Service D - Dealer or Independent?

I'm about 900 miles away from having to perform Service D on my CLS550 - anyone recommend an independent in SoCal? I've read that this sucker costs $1000 f/the dealer and all they do is change oil and inspection point check...

TIA!

If you're anywhere near the San Fernando Valley, Mr. MB Motors is one of the best in So Cal. There’s a 200 post thread on his work over at Mercedes Shop. The owner’s name is Enrique, and his shop is located at 5557 Reseda Blvd, Tarzana 91356. His phone number is 818.708.8086.

George over at MBZ Motors in Canoga Park is a good wrench as well. His shop is at 8300 Winnetka Ave, Canoga Park 91306. Their number is 818.709.5400.

Of course, SoCal covers a lot of territory. You could be posting from Oceanside.

Calibers (MB of Anaheim Hills)

I used to go to FJ in NP, price of services @ FJ is high. Then I switch to Calibers (now call : MB of Anaheim Hills, next to 91), but services still at the old location (on 5395 E La Palma Ave, Anaheim, CA 92807) (714) 777-7094. Call & ask for the price of services D before make an appointment. If my memory is right : for E class, services A : $180.00, services B : $250.00 ....CLS may be a liitle higher. There are many Indies in OC, but I still prefer to Calibers, due to the price do not save $ much, beside, the services are on the VMI of my cars, unless major services (like replace the brakes), I will DIY (with the help of friends). Regards.

Thanks for those that responded, here's what I came up with (substantially different than what I had read online)

Service D
*Oil/Filter
*Windshield Washer Fluid
*Visual Inspection of brakes
*Tire rotation (doesn't make sense at all / staggered stock)

f/Caliber (Thanks SoCal208) - $298
f/Laguna Niguel (closest one to me) - $299.95

For an accurate indication of what is done by a dealership alternate A and B service then view additional work relative to elapsed time or mileage. Service 05-present: http://www.mbworld.org/forums/2947437-post74.html
