FS: 2006 CLS55 CLS 55 Black Opal, Renntech, 40K miles

This is a repost from before, I'm lowering the asking price to $52k (original retail was $95,370). Mileage is on the high side at 45,000 (it is a daily driver after all), although kept in immaculate condition (I keep it regularly detailed and hand washed), and in better condition than quite a few cars at 20k miles I've seen. Vehicle is black opal, a rather rare and stunning shade of black that turns blue in night light, on a cashmere interior with matte burl wood trim. Vehicle's service G was just performed at Smythe European, everything checked out good, this car has a totally accident-and-insurance-claim-free history (if you'd like to run carfax, I can provide the VIN for you).

Vehicle is in the San Jose area (Cupertino to be specific), and is available at pretty much any time for inspection or a test drive. Just send me a PM if you're interested. Also, I'm willing to sell the Renntech carbon fiber airbox separately, if there's enough interest.

Here's the specifics:

- Purchased originally form Mercedes-Benz of Lynwood
- 2006 CLS55 AMG in Black Opal
- 45,000 miles
- Manufacturer warranty good for until 50k miles, or until 2010
- Bi-xenon HID headlights
- Active/Dynamic ventilated front seats
- DVD COMAND Navigation system
- Sirius satellite radio
- Power rear-window sunshade
- 6-disc CD changer
- iPod connector (iPod controls integrated in steering wheel)
- Electronic Trunk closer
- Keyless Go
- Front license plate bracket (not currently installed)
- Spare shift knob
- OEM wheel insets custom painted Opal Black
- Custom-installed shift paddles from CLS63
- Resonator delete and cross-flow pipes
- Renntech carbon fiber airbox
- 1 Set of manuals and key

You can get full-res versions of all the photos below at this link.

Thanks, I just do photography on the side--got started shooting and developing B&W for the high school paper, then moved onto digital, most recently i've been doing car shows (which is a whole different ballpark, totally different set of challenges from taking pics of people or architecture).

your car is awesome.

love the color , love the keyless go, love the wood steering wheel that i see missing from most csl55. was worried that they would not be good in snow , but i see that they will make it in st louis weather. i keep tracking them in manheim and ebay. the way they are falling in value, i'm afraid to take the plunge. i know they all appreciate, just recently though, faster than normal. im tying to gauge when the bottom is near. then i'm going to try and pick up something like yours. just want to let you know that you're a good photographer and your car is awesome. i'm jealous.

Thanks for the comments, and good luck in your search. Hard to tell where CLS55 prices are gonna end up, but hope you find what you're looking for!

If you want to know where the bottom will be, wait until the recession ends. Luxury items' values always tank in recessions. But that could be 2010 according to many economists, so by then you'll be looking at an out-of-warranty or very close to out of warranty car (if you want a CLS55; if you want a CLS63 you could still find a warrantied car).

But any and all luxury cars, in fact all cars except econoboxes, are getting hammered right now. Plenty of BMW M5s out there w/low miles in the 50's as well, and typically the M cars hold their value better than the AMG cars...it is endemic. Just as happened with the housing market, the credit bubble led to overproduction of automobiles, and now there is a glut of inventory thanks to tightening credit and scared buyers.

So the market will languish for a few years give or take, provided we don't go into a full-scale depression, in which case we're all screwed anyway.
