I have been driving with Hankook for about 7K. My rears went out at around 16K. When I first got my CLS63, I could barely get a squeek out of my stock tires for the first 1K. Then after that between 2-4K miles, I couldn't get traction at all.
The Hankook, when I first got them, same thing. Barely chirp the tires on launch. (Just stomp on pedal at light). Now after 2-3K with them, I can't get traction. So whether I get the stock tire or the cheaper Hankook, its the same results. The 63 just over powers the tires. I got a set for my fronts as well at 22K. They were just rated 2nd place for cheap replacement of tires. It actually beat out PS2 (benchmarks) on some of the tests. I got PS2 on my E55 and I had the same problem. Once you break the tires in, I can't get traction. Very frustrating. The only difference is PS2 costs about 400-600 a tire and Hankook costs 250.

I just purchased 4 but only have a few miles on them and all seems fine. I'll post a review as I put additional miles on the car.

I see that you're in Nashville. I was just there a couple months ago. Beautiful town. Is there a good tuning shop in Nashville? |

I actually visit Nashville several times this year myself. I am doing work for Nissan North America in Franklin, TN. The people in TN are very very nice.
Are you saying it was hard to spin your Toyo's after 2-5K miles on them? With my E55 with traction control off, I could spin my PS2 all day long. With the CLS63, I didn't think that can happen.(lower torque) But, after 2-5K miles on the tires, if I had the traction off, stock or Hankook, I could spin all day too. I would be happy to try Toyo if you could let me know if you could spin your tires all day with the traction control off and 2-5K miles on the tires. Thanks.

Got the PS 2 Plus XL on my S type R jag. Noticed a real improvement in handling and a lot less road noise over the previous PZeros.
Very pricey at almost $500 ea but worth it. Can't wait to try them in a couple of 1000 mi on my 55 with 030 package (got almost 26k mi on the original rubber).

I'm a big fan of Nashville. You're right, the people there are extremely nice and courteous. Very well mannered, not like what we have here on the East Coast. I'm looking at moving there. Another plus is that, it's a Red State! I'm not big on spinning tires. I recommend Toyos for the performance and traction. Very good tires. My rear tires wore out after only 10k, because of the aggressive negative cambers that were set on the car when it was alligned at install. I'm having it re-done to get better life out of the new ones. |

I hate when I step on the pedal that the tires just spin, so you will hardly ever see me use the 6.3 engine. Part of me thinks I should go back down to a 550 since all I do is spin my wheels when I step on the gas.
Are you saying the Toyos have enough traction to get you off the line if you floor the pedal? Planning my next trip to Nashville already.

So... to your original question, Hankook or no Hankook? I would like to know too because mine are coming up for replacement, front and rear. PS2's and PZero's are mucha bucks and I am mau lui (broke).

I am happy with my Hankook but will try Toyo next time based on your experience of little tire spin.
