Beautiful...how much power are you pushing and how much more are you looking for? Not sure how much further you can go with it...

Thanks.

It made 470 RWHP and 492 RWTQ on a Dynojet 224xLC (Eddy Current Load Absorption Unit) with the mods above, which includes the 168mm crank pulley and the RENNtech mail-order tune.

Next Friday, I am upgrading to a 175mm crank pulley and having the car dyno-tuned by Jerry with LET Motorsports when he comes through Houston.

I don't have a particular number goal in mind, just reliable power and torque. That is what I like about the car now. I can drive it daily with zero issues, but it is shockingly fast for a luxury car.

I have heard of people doing heads and cams, but there are mixed reviews. Most I have spoken with about H/C say minimal gains for a lot of $$$. I have also seen people run nitrous, but I'm not interested in that. I have thought about hooking up a methanol injection system to cool the intake charge significantly and add octane, which will allow more timing. I run methanol on my Supercharged Vette and it makes a huge difference. I have fail-safes set in the tune in case the methanol fails to spray under 7+ PSI boost for any reason. If you have a decent sized methanol reservior you really don't have to add methanol any more frequently than a talk of fuel and most of the time, much less frequently.

I have also wondered why I have not seen anyone do a conversion from the lysholm twin screw to a twin turbo set-up. I think this car with a pair of Garrett ball bearing GT35 turbos and an electronic boost controller would be awesome.

FYI, Renntech may do a custom dyno tune on your car for very little money since you have all those parts. Jeff Katz at Renntech can make a really nice file for you.

awsome car..my fav body style

The dyno numbers are not too impressive though ... you have a ton of money in that car ....if it had a TT v12 you would be out of pocket almost nothing and have 40% more power......god bless the v12 TT but in reality you can only go so fast anyway.....and there is always a faster car out there...

Twin turbos and removing the top mounted I/C and FMHC with two turbos, sheet metal intake manifold, and an nice FMIC would take this platform to a whole different level. Come on Boost logic,UGR and Sound performance

Would a V12tt from an 600 fit in the engine bay? That might be the easiest route

I would rather have the K55 with twin 67mm turbos.

I realize the dyno numbers are not over the top. The runs were on a Eddy Current Load Cell dyno. Numbers on dynos like that are typically lower than regular inertia dynos since they load the car more like it actually is on the street. Still, I am going with a larger lower pulley for more boost and getting a real dyno tune instead of relying on the mail order tune. We'll see what happens.

I wanted the CLS body so I did not have the option of getting the TT V12. If they had it, I would have bought it. I asked about it and MB told me the V12 was not available in the CLS body because it would not fit...not so sure I believe that. When I bought the CLS, the only bodies made with the 6.0L TT V12 AMG were the S65 (too big for my current tastes and needs), SL65 (not practical for me as a daily driver), and the CL65 AMG (again not practical for me as a daily driver).

I live in Houston (super hot and humid) so I was a little apprehensive about going to 180mm since it will generate quite a bit of heat at the limit of the compressor's efficiency. I think the car would end up pulling timing in the spring and summer as the intake air temperatures rise; so any gains I might get from boost are offset by decreased timing advance. Maybe my second intercooler and the larger IC pump would sufficiently compensate, but I drive the car daily so I don't really want to push it.

I see your trap speed is pretty impressive for a CLS - 124 MPH - what mods do you have?

well if u go with a bigger one then the cooling upgrades are a must. lots of the cali guys run them in hot weather with great results. the most important thing is choosing the right tuner and believe me PC is the way to go.

u can see my mod list over here

Welcome! Nice rides. You will leave the dyno tune with a huge smile on your face.

Better yet, leave the Lyshom in place and ADD twin Squire rear turbo set up.. Best of both worlds and gives a very flat power line.. I am very tempted, even a single..

Nice cars
So are you making it down for the dyno day in Victoria this weekend?

I would liek to know what you did in your vettes tune for the fail safe on the meth shutting off above 7psi.

I will not be in Victoria on Saturday. Jerry with LET and I were going to meet up Friday night to dyno tune my CLS, but we just couldn't get our schedules to work so I will try to get a remote tune from him sometime in the future after the 180mm crank pulley install and maybe a couple of other goodies. There is a huge drag racing event in Sealy at Lone Star Motorsports Park Saturday night called Midnight 1320. I will be getting ready for that and attending.

The Vettes are evidently a lot easier to work with in terms of tuning because of the software available. All you have to do to set up the fail safe is have the computer pull timing advance 'x' degrees and add fuel if the intake air temperature sensor reads greater than your preset limit - say 140F. If the methanol is spraying, the intake air temperature will not be more than 140F so the computer will use the normal programmed values for full timing and air:fuel.

I was wondering if that was the way you did it. I use EFI live when tuning LSx motors. And that is about how we do it.

I used to use EFI Live Pro (still have it), but when I switched from a MAF to a 3 bar speed-density tune, I switched to HP Tuners.
