wow maybe i should just take it to a detailer!
There's a reason why you pay $300+ for a decent dtailing job.

ya thats a long time...but why do you have to wash the 2nd coat of wax off?
I don't think you have to wash the second coat off. If you are starting from the begining, you do have to wash twice. The first would be a dawn wash to remove dirt and any built up wax and/or grease. Then you would clay the car. Then you would wash again (with a regular car wash soap - I use Zaino Z7) to remove the clay residue. Then you are ready for the polish/wax/Zaino etc.

and permaplate is a polymer the dealer put on my car it cost like 250 to put on.
From what I have read, this is a complete waste of money.

Also..... I differ from EDJ in that I don't wait for my car to dry. I use a california water blade to get off the heavy water, and then go right to the zaino.

ya the permaplate is garbage! thats why im interested in using a better wax i have a bottle of zymol that i never used maybe i should try that first and see how it goes.

it doesnt say anything about claying it just applying the wax with 2 coats after washing it.

Thanks Jakpro...it's the simplest damn thing I have ever used. Just follow the instruction he sends you and buy the ZFX stuff.....I didn't use Dawn...just Zaino car wash....I put 3 full cured coats of Z2 on in a couple hours and the instructions say not to worry about doing it in the sun...after that I sprayed it with Z8 I think it was and it looks flawless....I only bought Z2, ZFX ,Car wash and Z8 spray...I plan on using Leatherique when the time comes....when I get it dusty I just spray it down and wipe it off ....hell the other night I was bored and popped another coat of Z2 on it in about 45 minutes. The stuff comes off extremely easy..just an easy wipe of a cotton towel an its off.... and there is barely any dust from it, no streaks...just deep gloss...its incredible.

I bought ZFX, Z2,6,7,8...I think it was under 100 bucks for everything....since you have black....go the extra steps...black is a ***** but nothing better looking when its clean...I have only used this stuff on the Benz...looks like there is another pollish for non clear coated so I have to wait to try it on the old stuff. Use 100% COTTON towels only. They tell you to use very sparingly because it goes a long way...I did all the glass outside too....on my 4th coat I put it on fairly heavy...It still came off like butter,no streaks , barely any dust ...cool stuff....I try not to drive it in the rain so I have no idea how it beads or wears...but it sure looks good !!!

It's a silicone "squeegee" that is made for removing water from your car without scratching the surface. You can pick one up at Target or Walmart for little money. Of course, you want to make sure your car is clean when you use it (and the water blade is clean) and you're only removing rinse water, not soapy water. And never use it to remove rain water.

Another good investment is the California Duster. You can use this to wipe down the car daily; it only takes a minute. It's not made to remove heavy dirt, but it will remove that dust that collects on the car from the air. Follow the instructions to "prime" the duster before you use it (involves sitting it on some newspaper for a certain amount of time). Also available at Target or Walmart.

It does look great! You should avoid using the Z8 as a "detail spray" though. I don't believe it's made to suspend dust or dirt and is more of a gloss enhancer. The Z6 is a better product to use for detailing. I myself keep a spray bottle of Z7 and water for some touchups, and I use the Z6 when done.

Hey Dreamcast, instead of picking our brains one questions at a time, and even asking such basic ones such as "how much does it cost," perhaps you should just go to zainobros.com and read all the FAQs and tip/trick sheets that Sal has on line for yourself. That way, you'll waste less of other people's precious time. We don't make any money by you buying/using Zaino, and we are here to help each other with tips, tricks, ideas, and questions but if you don't do the basics yourself, people are less likely to continue going on and on and on and on reiterating things you should have figured out by looking at the source yourself.

Either put the time and effort into it, or not. Choice is yours.

Thaks Rev...I used the Duster , the Z6 stuff then another coat of Z2 and after the Z2 is when I hit it with the Z8 !!! Too many damn Z's....careful with that Cali Duster when they get good and used...it traps a lot of grit....it's soaked in a parrafin type stuff to attract and hold dust and dirt.

No problem. Just remember though, unlike a towel, it does not lift the water off of the surface which means what ever is in the water, you will be dragging across the finish. That's why you only want to use it on the rinse water, after you wash your car.

Let us know whatever you decide to use, and take some pics when you are done.

As EDJ said, regarding Zaino, Sal Zaino's website contains lots of good information on the use of his products. It is absolutely a good read if you are considering Zaino for your car. But of course, he's trying to sell you something and we're not. My recommendation then would be to resist buying a lot of stuff, and just buy what you need to do your car. If you like it, then you can buy more. I would start with the Clay Bar, the Z2, and the ZFX. This should get you started.

Waste of time, but it's your loss, and your time to waste on the Zymol.

eh no one is telling me why Zymol is so bad or a waste of time?

I mean it says number one car polish wax on the bottle.

and it seems easy to apply.

so why is it so bad?

It's not that it is so bad at all. It's that you are investing the same amount of time and effort on the Zymol as you would be on the Zaino but only getting half the result.

Zaino

I love a clean car and really look forward to using the tips you've all shared on product use.

One question, because my car is a couple months old, do I still go through the same steps? Do I have to worry about newer paint being damaged by the process? I'll share pics after I use it. Thanks for the advice.

And you can't afford to buy a bottle of $8.99 Zaino? You didn't buy more car than you can actually afford did you? Ten bucks is a very small amount to protect a tens-of-thousands of dollars purchase

well from what i read it is more then 9 bucks! you have to buy like zaino wash, zaino clay, zaino polish, wax scratch remover etc?

So all i need is one bottle of zaino?

what happend to that process that you have to do that 5 step process?

welll since all i need is one bottle what is the type i need?

Seems reasonable.
