I'm about to order the Leatherique, and was wondering if it darkens the lighter colored leathers? Is it safe to use on that light tan/creamy leather? TIA

Hey, got the Leatherique, but it's freezing up here now.

Should I just wait a month or 2 and apply then. I really think the seats are in desperate need of a treatment. Trying to scheme up a heater in the car to keep it warm over night.....any ideas???

Direct quote from the website - "In cooler weather, or for long-term storage in a garage, cover the seats with plastic wrap, and "warm" with a hair dryer. Or one of our Ferrari friends, Paul Hammer, suggests covering seats with large plastic garbage bags to be able to sit in the car and move it if necessary."

Hope this helps.

New information

We are working on some new things for 2006. The new "TRICK" is the wipe dye technique. Very simple and perfect for touch up.
1. Bounty Towel
2. Dish of water
3. Dye
(A) dip towel in water and ring dry (should just be DAMP)
(B) Dip towel in dye (little goes along way)
(C) with a circular motion put the dye on, move quickley.
(D) This will put on about 1 mil of dye, it drys in 5 min average.
(E) Not enough coverage just add more.
Looks like it has been sprayed on.

I'd be there, as long as it's a Saturday I'm not working, which shouldn't be a problem

Before I reply to your question may I first ask what methods or products have you used, if any, to try and remove the blemishes?

I only ask because sometimes certain cleaning items can set the blemishes in.

Take care,

Hey Anthony. Like "SandyinMiami" I have a "Java" interior on my ML and most importantly don't want to darken it with a leather cleaner and/or conditioner. Secondly, I also don't want whatever I put on to rub off on my light colored clothing. I have used Connolly's Hide Food in the past very sparingly with pretty good results. Recommendations?

here are the pics of driver and passenger. driver is worse.
all i know about the kind of leather is the durango brochure calls it gathered leather.

Leather care for 1999 C43

Hello all,

My first post, he he. I'm super excited, I just purchased a 99 Silver/black C43 which is in wonderful condition. My first Benz!!! I was wondering what are the best leather care products for the interior which is in near mint condition. There aren't any signs of wear, not even on the drivers side bolster.

I've been reading a lot if posts regarding the leatherique products, but like I said the seats are near new condition, Looking for something to maintain them that won't make them feel "greasy". Any help appreciated.

Best Regards,

B

Take some advice from a fellow C43 owner - try the leatherique.
www.leatherique.com - they offer a MB discount also. Please post some pics of your car in the W202 section...and welcome to the forum!

I recommend only products that I use........Zaino.I use Zaino products on all 3 of my Benz's.As far as buffers go , I am going to order one from Griot's in the next couple of weeks.I have never used on on a car before but when you purchase his buffer he includes a DVD on how to use it.When I receive it I will use it on my 420SEL and post before/after pics.

I've been reading a lot of great things regarding the Zaino products. I will definitely give them a try this summer. One question, I live in Chicago so during the winter months I need to go to an automatic car wash or one of the DIY pressure wash places. How does the Zaino hold up since a lot of members seem to say the water and degergrnts used are bad for the finish. Also, how does the Zaino protect the paint, it doesn't sound like it is a wax??

Zaino is a paint sealant.I would recommend "clay barring" your vehicle prior to the application of the Zaino. As far as how well the product holds up really depends upon the enviorment. Here in NJ,I make it a point to set aside a weekend in mid to late October to clay my C43 and apply 2-3 coats of Zaino. That holds me through the winter till about March.Keep in mind that I will handwash my car whenever the weather permits.I would not take my car to any automated car washes or anything else for that matter because the soap they use will probably strip the Zaino right off.My theory is this : If you spend the time ( and money ) to invest in Zaino, then take the 20-30 minutes to hand wash the car ( weather permitting ) and enjoy the satisfaction of your hard work and your shiny Benz.
