Question on reusing microfiber towels

Can we reuse our microfiber towels after we throw them in the washer or would the residual residue from the detergent be to harsh for the paint. Any recomendations on the process to clean them Thanks To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Yes you can reuse them. There are special microfiber detergents you may use. They are sold anywhere microfibers are sold.

Thanks but my wife washed all my mf towels in the laundry and am concerned it's not safe anymore for the paint surface. My car is black and I will not use it unless it safe but really not sure so I'm asking all the experts.

i put mine in the laundry with very little detergent and then put them in the dryer without a fabric softener sheet. they have worked great and don't scratch the paint after this. they seem to perform just like when i purchased them from DI.

yea I think your not supposed to use fabric softener. If you do it once then probably there wont be a big difference but if you continue it thne yea.

Micro fibre Care
Proper care is simple; to ensure your towels and buffing cloths provide long-term use, wash them frequently after every use and as soon as possible, in a liquid soap (Micro Restore) in hot 120oF< (48oC <) water, add a teaspoon per towel distilled white vinegar, the vinegar doesn't coat the fibres but instead works to eliminate detergent residue (do not use fabric softener) in the rise cycle, and finally a thorough cold rinse. Always wash micro fibre separately and only with other micro fibre fabrics. Use the hot setting on dryer, no softener sheets (your towels will not melt)

If this doesn't completely clean them use distilled water, place your towels in the pan and bring to a slow boil for 10 to 15 minutes. There will be a film that rises to the top of the water which you should skim off (these are minerals and impurities found in regular tap water) Drain the water from the pan before removing the towels, and then hang the towels to air-dry.

For more information see article "Micro fibre” in the Detailing School section of Detailing Bliss forum...
