Oakes - Detailed: 2008 Mercedes Benz S600 - V12 Recovery

Here is a restorative detail of a 2008 Mercedes Benz S600. This 510 hp twin-turbo V12 producing 612 ftlb of torque, was in desperate need of a proper detail. It became victim of a poor detailing job before hand, fortunately Mercedes paint, post 2005 model year, is a ceramic clear coat making it unbearably hard. Makes it difficult to scratch, but difficult to correct as well. The jambs were all waxed, wood all polished and sealed, as well as the chrome. Leather all cleaned, conditioned and moisturized. Wheels polished and sealed as well as the exhaust. Quite a bit of time was put in to this car.

I would like to thank Mikhael for the assistance on this car to get it done on time!

Paint Process:
Menzerna PowerGloss - Yellow
Menzerna PowerGloss - Orange
Menzerna 203 - Orange
Menzerna PO85RD - Green

Lexol Ph Cleaner
Lexol Leather Conditioner
Mink Oil

Chrome Treatment:

A few 50/50 shots: Some of these photos were taken after a single pass of Power Gloss, still showing some defects.

Wow, great results!

OT, what do you charge people for your service? I'm looking for someone in my area and want to know what to offer/pay.

Thanks guys!

I usually just wash the car or use a plush microfiber to lightly grab dust from sitting in a garage. If the vehicle has been driven and has gotten dusty enough to catch your attention, I usually just wash it.

As far as the average costs to similar detailing, not listing my own as I'm not at liberty to discuss pricing on the forums, are in the wide range of $300-2,000. Depends on who you go to, what you want done, and so forth.

Splendid work! A real rescue job. I assume that it took a rotary polisher to get those results. If you used a random orbital or dual action unit, let us know which one!!

Mink oil on the leather. I had thought about using this, since it was always a go-to product for baseball gloves and work boots, but I've always gone for the more exotic leather treatments like Leatherique. I may have to dig out my tin of mink oil and see what it does on 22 yr-old Benz leather seats. Thanks for the tip. [was that the last step on the seats?]

PS: Excellent photos, BTW - you really captured the depth of the gloss.

The mink oil was the last step yes, I was hesitant to use it after the Lexol conditioner but turned out fine. I would have used leatherique, I just avoid it on perforated seats since you really need to rub it in/soak it and let it sit.

I used a PC 7424 on this one, rotary would have been easier but as you can see, still got the job done!

Excellent results...and encouraging! I use an orbital as well. As for the leatherique, I've been using it on my old Benz seats and the center sections are perforated. Should I avoid using it? At least on the perforated sections? I hate to think that I've been soaking the seat padding with rejuvinator oil.

I wouldn't say avoid it per se, it's just I had a bit of paranoia because the front seats alone are 38 way? I just wouldn't want to get any moisture on any of the seat components as I don't know how they're structured underneath
