No 4Matic Mercedes diesel cars were ever exported to the USA.

There have been C-class and E-class models in other markets, maybe S-class, too.

Of course the ML320CDI and GL320CDI are 4matics, but I assume that's not what you're asking.

The rest of the world also gets S diesel 4-Matic.

In addition to the ML and GL, the R CDI 4-Matic is availabile in the US.

I think the "Beijing" cars were Bluetecs with AWD. Not sure if they had the 5 or 7 speed transmissions.

In North America MB tries to down-market diesels so not many have leather etc and AWD. This is purely marketing plan.

Thats a shame, because I am sure I am not the only one waiting on a
CLS 320CDI 4Matic.

That one will not happen, as the CLS is not available with 4Matic in any iteration. I though, would also be first in line for the CLS320CDI available in Europe. Even more so for a CL420CDI (still in my mind), or an S420CDI, or CLS420CDI (also imaginary). Bottom line is, I would love to see a full diesel line up of cars for the US, not SUVs, which I have no interest in or use for.
