Alternator adjustment backed out all the way

Hello,

I have an '83 240D, and in the process of changing my alternator/water pump v-belt I backed the alternator slide adjustment bolt out all the way, and am having trouble getting it re-threaded. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Robert
