Car won't turn to the right (only left)
I am the proud owner of a beautiful 1974 240D diesel Mercedes (W115).
A couple of days ago, as I turned the car "hard to the right" while arriving at the office parking lot, I heard a loud, "dry" "pock!" sound. I attempted to test drive it around the lot and discovered something got damaged in the steering -- I can only turn left, not right. I tried looking underneath, but the car is too low to the ground to get a good look. I was told by a mechanic that I either have "rack and pinion" steering or "gearbox" steering. What is the most likely culprit? |

you have
a box.Seals may have gone out or a gear failed. You need to get it on a lift to examine it.Rebuild kits for the steering box at www.autohausaz.com
I don't know where you can get a rebuilt one if the gears failed. Cross your fingers that it is not the box and only one of the steering links ohlord ![]() since you can turn one way maybe the box is good and a link failed on the side you can't turn towards. time to lift and look

Sounds like you activated the NASCAR option.
