I'm getting close to purchasing either a 1979 240d manual transmission or a 1983 300D for use as a light commuter. At first glance (haven't driven yet) they both seem to be rust free and have good MB-tex interiors.
I know next to nothing about these cars aside from the fact that they rust at the rockers, have pretty stout motors and none of them seem to have working air conditioning. I also have seen stuff about suspensions being very expensive to fix.
What are some other things I should look for in terms of how well it will work on the highways?
Thanks,
Joe
