Thanks and yes it was for sale last summer. I Had it sold and pulled out at the last minute....thank GOD. If it had sold, the regret would have lasted years. The odometer is at 101k and she only gets driven on the weekends.

IMO, the Rainbows sound excellent and provide better range of sound (particularly bass) and the highs are much more crisp versus the factory speakers. You're welcome to hit me up for a coffee sometime and you can check out the speaker sound for yourself.
Can you PM me info for the Rainbows ? I need a pair for another wagon I purchased.

The Rainbow distributor is here:

http://www.distinctusa.com/

I clicked on a dealer that had some in stock (I selected this one in Nebraska):

http://www.premier-audio.com/

These speakers do not include the MB connectors. You'll need to re-use your existing wiring.

Well, the kombi is getting some new parts today...

SMOKE was coming out the vents yesterday. I shut off the climate control quickly and put down the windows to air out the interior. A frantic call to mbenzman was met with calmness and "just bring it by tomorrow".....

Turns out the the blower motor was installed backwards when it was replaced some years ago....(mbenzman guessed this was the case some months back when I complained of weak air circulation and suggested I let him open it up and find out). Of course, I ignored his advice until yesterday.

Looks like it fried my blower regulator - I think it actually caught fire - and need both a new motor and regulator. Makes the C-service I had scheduled seem cheap in comparison. It could be worse....the whole car could have caught fire, right on my way to pick up the munchkin from daycare.

That's wierd. I have replaced a couple of 124 blower motors myself and didn't know you could get it in backward.

That might explain if someone complains of poor air circulation as you did.

FYI. It's a pain to do the job, and allmost imposible for the novice to avoid cracking some plastic firewall stuff in the process.

....been too quiet on this thread lately....

ATL update: The Level 4 watering ban continues here for the time being - NO CAR WASHING - has been permitted since last summer. If you want your car cleaned, you have to take it to a wash and have someone there do it. We had a good rain yesterday, but the wagon needs a complete detail.

Premium fuel topped $4/gal here. Since I'm getting 20mpg, that equates to 20 cents per mile just in fuel costs.

Last week, I brought the family out to Colorado....you never appreciate the engineering of a Mercedes-Benz until you drive a rental car for a week. Flex fuel Chevy Impala FTL..

I've had good luck with On Site Shine (Mobile) and Glenn's Superior Car Shine.

Neither is cheap.

Why would you not want to detail it yourself?

washing ATL

anyone in Atlanta (the city proper, not you "METRO" area ppl as it would be a bit of a drive) is welcome to come down to Mercedes of Buckhead on Piedmont Road for a complementary wash (we recycle our water); we are supposed to do it free for all Benz owners but we dont advertise that bc the ppl that work there are lazy f**kers... and since im letting that little secret out dont tell them i told you please ! just be nice to the porter's, our jobs are hard enough with all the old ppl

Thanks ATL_S124 for the tip on free washes. ACC used to do the same thing...not sure if they still do.

Is this a hand wash or tunnel?

Its a machine followed by hand drying, windows, tire shine, and vacuuming... the machine is *fairly* gentle... we've only lost two poorly attached chrome door guards since ive been working there
