SRS won't go off
My SRS light comes on and stays on when I apply the brake. I don't see any relationship between these two systems. If I start the engine without pressing the brake pedal, light does not come on. As soon as I step on the brake, it comes on..Any suggestions??

Try
to start it without your seat belt on and step on the brake pedal. If the lamp does not trigger something has gone amiss in the crash detect system.Could be a bad sensor or just a bad brake switch, whatever it is your SRS is not active. So if replacing the brake switch or trying to adjust it does not fix the issue you need to have it diagnosed.Hate to lose you as a member on the forum

My SRS light has been on for 2 years, all of the time.... My mechanic cannot diagnose what it is, so I said screw it.

Is there a way for me to check for "error codes" , blinking LED under the hood, showing what could be causing this stupid SRS light to come on? I mean I'd like to diagnose it myself before taking it to Mr. Rip Off. This car has been working perfectly for a couple of years (155k miles), red SRS light on the dashboard is just driving me crazy! Electrical diagram does not show any relationship between brake circuit and SRS circuit, unless something screwy is happening.

I had the same issue. Turned out it was a switch, contact ring, in the steering wheel. When I applied the brakes it gave just enough inertia to turn the light on.
Odd but true.

I'd bet you money that your SRS and bulb out warning indicators are switched.
