Car not starting in Park (87 300E)

Does anyone else have this problem? I just replaced the battery and the OVP relay (actually, the OVP relay was replaced first, and the battery was jumped after that--could that be a problem?), but now, the car refuses to start in park in the morning. I have to move it to neutral to start. Has anyone had this problem? After starting it in neutral the first time, it is able to start in park. Jumped meaning you gave it a jump start? Mercedes never ever get jumped. If you need to jumpit swap batterys start car swap back. I have not had that problem but if you did jump start it the ovp is probably bad. Good to have 2

Interesting, I have an 88 300CE and have jumped it and used a fast start charger with no issues. My car stopped starting in park and I replaced the neutral safety switch... No problems with starting in park since.

Peter, where is the neutral safety switch located? Was it an easy switch, or did you have to take it in to have it done?

Brought the switch online, was cheaper, I was having a lot of other work done - brakes, drilled rotors, shocks, so I had the mechanic do it at that time. I believe it is on the driver's side of the transmission.
