leaking eha on 1990 300e

eha appears to be leaking on my 1990 300e. My question is, should I replace the 2 seals before replacing the eha itsels. thanks for your input. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

Yes for sure. They usually get too hard and shrink over time, then leak.

I've gone through this myself, 99% chance new "O" rings won't solve your problem. Wipe it down good and dry, start the car, you'll see the body of the EHA get wet then start dripping. Cheapest is Autohaus, around $240. Sometime used ones on Ebay $40-60. Good luck.

leaking eha

Tried replacing the two small "o" rings on the valve and it didn't work. Found a used one at local shop, screwed it on and all is well. This problem caused a strong gas smell from engine compartment and was easy to see after removing the air filter assembly. These valves are on E-bay for $25 to $50. I was lucky and found mine at local shop. Worth the risk compared to the $250 price new (excluding labor). Overall an easy repair even for a non-mechanic like myself. Oh yeah, a small spray of gas is emitted when the screws are backed out, so watch your eyes.
