92 124 4matic: could centrifugal governor cause slip in all gears?
92 124 4matic:
This just started slipping in all gears, It will firmly engage into all gears and accelerate if done gently, but more throttle will induce slippage. Trans shop said pressure are good and rebuild is required. I don't buy this because the trans was a complete reman unit 30k ago.
I have literally been searching everywhere for a week but it seems the transmissions are some kind of black art. Since this is NOT a diesel, no one has had my same problem or has not posted a repair other that either scrapping the car or rebuilding the trans.
I have gleaned from a trans shop that sticking valves in the valve body can be a cause hydraulic flow restrictions so I plan to clean that out, but along the way read a description of the centrifugal governor and it sounds like a possible factor.
