For the record my 1996 SL320 with the M104 engine leaks. So what ever they did to fix it didn't work. I am going to live with it until it gets bad enough that I have to fix it. To remove this ad, register today or login if you already are registered!

How many miles do you have on it?

OK guys. ILJ from Benzworld gave me this link.
Waybomb., Talk to me.
I just found this link regarding the straight 6 head gasket leak (which I have at the rear passenger area of the head). You mentioned a re-torque solved your problem. I'm losing about a quart every 700 miles or so, plus water to a lesser degree (the water I don't see leaking and the oil is clean).

I digress, but my real question is did the re-torque really help?
What torque (in lbs)? I heard it was 40 lbs + a 90 deg additional twist.
What downsides are there in trying this? I see little.

By the way, I'm from the n/w burbs of Chi-town, and originally from the hand state. Ya Hey Der!
