Question: My Xenon headlights are not as bright

Hello All,
It seems to me that my headlight are getting dimmer and dimmer every day. When I bought the car back in '04, these Xenon lights were amazing. They were the brightest lights I have ever seen. But now,*they are almost as same as regular headlights. I don't know that they can go dim. I thought bulbs are either work or don't work.
Thanks

no, in the case of HID bulbs, they age....and color shift. if you replace them
(be sure to buy in pairs and matching lot numbers), you'll be back to new look
and Kelvin temperature. if you replace with 5000 degree Kelvin, model 81522+
you'll be even more impressed. OEM 4300 degree bulb should run you approx
$80/pair, whereas the 81522+ will be about $150/pair.

Is this the part number you were referring to?

Where can I find that part?

I also agree with the above post - as these bulbs get older they are not as bright and turn purple. This is especially apparent with some older Acuras with xenon DRLs that have been run every day for many years.

If you replace one of the bulbs the difference will be even more apparent as they will be very different in color (from experience).

I finally got around and replaced the bulbs with Phillip 85122+, very disappointing. They light brightness is about the same, but now they shine a bit yellow on the road. I'm thinking about putting the original one back in.

Your headlamp may need restoration, if it becomes foggy aka oxidized it will block a good % of light.

What is the approximate lifespan of the lights? Or when should replacement be considered?

Gee Tom...it only took 2 years !! Remember, new Xenon bulbs will look yellow for the first 100 hrs or so.

My lenses aren't that perfect. I used the Plastic X cleaning them every now and then. No, I am shopping for a good lens restoration products.

Yes they do....see attached DTB bulletin from MB.

My '04 lenses are still clear as a bell so I havn't researched how to "clean" them up.

Edit: BTW, this is the best price I could find on this bulb : Click Here
